What's acceptable and not acceptable...

In light of the thread about the physical touch problem that guy had the other day....and how some got offended etc I can't help but wonder how many Christians are offended by a simple and natural act of breastfeeding a baby in public.

So what do you all think? Do you think it's acceptable that when a baby is hungry that the mother can feed them some lunch wherever they are, via the breast, or do you believe that the mother needs to hide away in shame?

I have no issues with it. Of course, I would hope they would be discreet as I would be if I was breastfeeding a child. It they just snatch up their shirts and unhook their bras and let the babies latch on with no cover or anything . . .well, that would be quite different.

If I were married, I wouldn't want my wife breastfeeding our baby in public. I don't want anyone staring at my woman's breasts.

1) I'm picking on him.

2) You are absolutely correct, but breastfeeding in public does not mean that woman is showing off her breasts. Most women cover themselves the best that they can in order to maintain modesty, but it can be difficult when you are a mom who is breastfeeding anywhere from 6 months to a year and would like to go out in public, but can't because you feel exiled for trying to feed your children who you can't just leave and not breastfeed because them your breasts become engorged. breast pumping can help for short preiods of time, but you are pretty much attached to that kid until you stop breastfeeding. So, the only other oprtion is to stay home all the time.

Well I've breastfed all my 5 children all for 12 mths each and currently breastfeeding my 6th. I've always been discreet but there's been times where I've accidently flashed a bit more flesh than I'd like...but what can you do...I'm feeding my child.

Wiley - I find that men don't look...they always tend to look away uncomfortably while I'm breastfeeding. They don't generally ogle because most women would probably pull them up on it anyway...I know I would. So I don't think you need to worry about that

I'd still be uncomfortable with the idea of my wife having her breasts exposed in any type of way in public. She may not be "showing them off" but they are exposed and some sicko may look at her. It's not my woman I wouldn't trust, it is the many weirdos wandering our streets.

Exactly. I don't think we should be hard on mothers who are breastfeeding or make a big deal out of it, like they are doing something wrong, because they ar simply trying to nourish their children.

Its funny because I was at the store and this happened, and me and my step-dad briefly talked about it.

In my opinion if you have no other place to do it, than be discreet about it, but if you can go somewhere like a public restroom, than by all means go

I do not think it is that hard to find a public restroom, than again I am not a breastfeeding mother so I wouldnt understand
