Again, respond to people as if they're individuals rather than part of the Borg.

I did. You are a self-described pagan. My response was to your post.
And come on now, your positions are never going to veer from the other usual suspects I connect together.

Unless they're Unitarian Universalists...they are the Borg. UU of 8! You will be assimilated! All your religion are belong to us!

Or a Humanist. Same thing when the social reengineering wash is done.

Reps to anyone who gets that incredibly obscure reference...

Star Trek? The bald guy without a toupee version?

I thought I'd venture a guess.

Ah yes, because we all know the pagans are less than human and not worthy of your Most High articulation.

Rote is hardly worth replying to.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that this person is not going to offer up the standard liberal/progressive position on the gay deal?

You guys want the world your way and we Christians that take the Bible seriously, oppose that.

"You guys" comprise all of the segments I lump together. It has been clarly proven as justified to do so. This self-described "pagan" (you reference) is going to set forth all of the same arguments for gay life as do the humanists or atheists . . . and liberals and progressives.

I don't see why you dont rejoice in your massive support numbers?

I will be teaching my children all about this.

Isn't it nice to interact with such an open-minded, open-positioned, Bible-believing Christian?

(Hey c'mon now look at all those hyphens. How 21st century is that huh?)

Then why do you even come here to discuss these topics at all, if that's how you feel? Seems pretty pointless.

I just cannot grasp how anyone can say things like this and think it is ok. I mean seriously do people really think these things, sometimes I feel like it is a reality show or an alternate universe.

I would much rather a person lives in a manner that makes them happy and feel loved and wanted than one that continually makes them feel degraded, unloved and alone, which is what yo so nonchalantly condone.

well, i guess as a christian i am less ocncerned about the happiness of people than i am about the holyness of God. God does not call us to do things that make us happy...he calls us to love and glorify him with our lives and our choices. just because it makes us happy does not mean that it is the best thing for us. if we are living in Gods will, happiness and contentment will follow.

I'd rather you actually listened to me rather than determining that because I support equal rights for everyone that I do so for the reasons you've decided. But, then again, Alex Jones has good footage of Bush Sr. performing a human sacrifice, too.

Or a Humanist. Same thing when the social reengineering wash is done.

I heard monkey demons fling poo that burns with nuclear fusion-level heat.

Nope. It's from a top-shelf source of pagan humor.

well, i guess as a christian i am less ocncerned about the happiness of people than i am about the holyness of God.

Jesus told us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves.

If we love them - and treat them as if we love them - then they will be happy. If the way we treat them leaves them unhappy, then there's a problem with the way we're treating them, and that should be a concern.

The way many (by no means all) Christians treat homosexual men and women does leave many homosexuals unhappy. There's scope for improvement there in the way Christians treat homosexuals.

And as someone who's passionate about God's call to us to live lives of holiness, I believe that treating people with fairness and justice and compassion and dignity is totally bound up in that holiness. Holiness doesn't (or shouldn't) trump other people's happiness.

David.

No? Oh, in that case we won't bother replying to you in future.

David, are you proud of that comeback? Kinda school-yardish don't ya think?

I mean, this thread is the old "what if your child" routine.

Not exactly a creativity quest here.

How about, if you realize you're gay, you'll respect your Christian parent's' position on the absolutely incompatible nature of gay life and Christian truth?

How about a reply to that rather un-rote huh?

13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, [1] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [2] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears allthings, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Except it seems having a Gay kid.

No one has a "gay kid" they just have children.

Are you not thinking like the world and its ways?

Faith, hope, and love, implemented, means never giving up on your child. That means consequences and accountability being viewed as an adult.

Not as a child would.

Hopefully, you didn't offer this scripture as gay activism or gay theology. That would not be employing sound reasoning.

Is typical school-yard comeback or rote-like.

How about trying an answer to my question? How about respecting your "parents?"

What about Christopher Hitchens? He’s both an anti-religious atheist and a misogynistic rightwing twit, surely he breaks the mould of the evil Atheist/Pagan/Gay/Humanist/Liberal/Progressive/Bed-wetting/Left-handed/Jewish Midget conspiracy?

You forgot socialist/communist/marxist/bolshevik/fascist/mussolini/hitler/freemason !!!!

*assigns Aten's Apostle to re-education centre 17B - liberal media infiltration division*

Christopher Hitchens doesn't count; his brother is a dribblingly religious rightwing twit here in Britain (he has a Daily Mail *cross self* column). I think they just go against the religious norms - the one in America is a rampaging secularist, the one in Britain is the Anglican Ann Coulter.

I disagree, but whatever.

What about it? Should kids respect their parents if their parents happen to be two gay guys?

For once I agree with you. But many early posts would kick the kid out of the house. That is not consequences and not giving up, it si washing their hands oof the issue. (I'm sure you can think of one person who is recorded in scripture as washing his hands, I only recall the one).

If one is going to give up on a child they should go the whole way. Take him to the city gates and kill him. (Hmm, until just now I had not realized that in this the Law may have more than a hint of taking it the way I said, no giving up, either admit you failed and kill the child or keep trying, no easy middle ground).
