  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know about you, but I don't feel that belief should take precedence over actions.
Actions are kind of after the fact. If we are fighting God, our actions will get worse and worse. If we come to Him, they are bound to improve.

The action that really matters is believing!

Joh 6:29 -Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
I can understand feeling that one must both be a believer and a decent person, but I never found justice in the idea that killers or rapists could evade punishment because of belief.

They can't. Most would use 'belief' as an excuse, and attempt at leniency I suspect. On the other hand man's evil unjust laws might call some people a rapist if they had sex with a wife, and she reported it as rape out of spite or some such nonsense. A parent might rescue a child from an evil mom or dad, and be called a kidnapper....a child might quote the bible or have one at school and be called a criminal...etc etc etc.

I never said the Greek gods were good, I don't think they are. Even at their best they are portrayed as cruel, selfish, and cold.
Since they would be fallen evil spirits, that fits.

Hey, spousal rape is a real thing; no means no, even if you are married. I have never heard of a child in the U.S. being called a criminal for bringing a bible to school.

What would you say if I told you some people improve their behavior and are less hateful and overall sinful when they STOP being super religious? I find that many fundamentalist Christians get so caught up in their own religion that they forget to follow the messages within it. Pride seems to be the biggest sin amidst fundamentalists, but that is just my opinion. After all, doesn't the bible say to worship privately, not to boast about it?

Hey, spousal rape is a real thing; no means no, even if you are married.
So is false allegations a real thing.

1 Cor 7: 4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
I have never heard of a child in the U.S. being called a criminal for bringing a bible to school.
" In January 2010, 16-year-old Kenneth Dominguez was suspended for two days from Gateway East High School for violating a teacher’s order not to bring his Bible to school and not to discuss his faith with others. Dominguez’s Bible was even confiscated by that teacher, who said Dominguez’s actions violated “separation of church and state:”

Being religious is not biblical. The Pharisees were religious.

It says preach the gospel in all the world to every creature actually, and to do so even if it is illegal!

That means that the wife has dominion over her husband's body as well as the husband has dominion over his wife's body; what they do with each others' bodies is through mutual agreement, and this doesn't given men the right to do as they please with their wives bodies, least their wives be able to do as they please with their husbands, which might not be all that pleasant.

False alligations are real, but that doesn't make the crime itself not real.

It means they should not deny sex, to be blunt.

There was no crime if the allegations were false!

I suggest that anytime sex isn't mutually consensual, it is rape. With either gender (it happens to guys too).
Marriage is supposed to be consensual. If one alters the agreement, then I suggest one should be ready to a new contract discussion.

Everything your spouse wants should automatically be consented to by the other?

That would be a great marriage.

I would like you to show me someone with wedding vows which state that they have to submit to sex whenever the husband (or wife, for that matter) wants it no matter what.

You are so delicate with this. Watching Law and Order SVU must be impossible to you.
I don't watch TV, but my wife does, and she won't watch SVU.

Law & Order and NCIS are her two favorite shows though.
