"the seventh day is the Sabbath" Ex 20:10 where that day is "an evening and morning" - "from evening to evening shall you celebrate your Sabbaths" Lev 23.

Basically this is a very easy Bible truth that all Sabbath Keeping groups affirm... no sense in supposing it is too difficult to see clearly. Thank God that the SDA denomination is in full agreement with this very easy to see Bible truth.

Brother, all you need to understand is that between those two "evenings" there is a "morning" that divides the two periods that God called "night" and "day". The Sabbath in Israel has two periods that God called “night” and “day” of the same two words that are mirror images of each other: from evening to morning and from morning to evening.

A distinction without a difference.

"evening and morning were the first day" and so on with 2nd day and 3rd day.

There are no 4-parts-of-a-day mentioned in Genesis 1. Each 24 hour day is completely accounted for in Genesis 1 with the phrase "evening and morning".

period.

So easy that all readers - even non-Sabbath keeping ones easily admit to seeing this Bible detail.

In the Bible (as we see in the days of Genesis 1) - a day is "from (start of) evening to (start of) evening" = Evening and morning. I am not aware of any such thing. But I am aware that you oppose it. By contrast in the word of God "from evening to evening shall you celebrate your Sabbaths" Lev 23. More Bible please.
Brother, here is the passage where we differ in our understanding.

The Lord said to Moses, “The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord. Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.” (Leviticus 23:26-32)

I summarize our different points of view of the above passage.
  1. it starts at the end of the ninth day to the end of the tenth day. (HARK!)
  2. it starts in the middle of the ninth day to the middle of the tenth day. (guevaraj)
  3. it starts at the beginning of the ninth day to the beginning of the tenth day. (BobRyan)

Brothers and sisters, according to the manna story Moses kept a Sabbath from morning to morning. Every day except the day before a Sabbath, collected was the manna in the "morning" and lasted until the next "morning". The day before a Sabbath, it would last past the ending "morning" of the previous day until a second day that also ends in a "morning". Clearly, a day for the manna story because of the Sabbath is from "morning" to "morning". The Sabbath begins with a "morning" with no manna found and the previous day's manna lasts beyond the end "morning" of the previous day for two days instead of one. Notice that manna spoils in the morning, except when the next day is a Sabbath. For the manna story, the point on the line when the preparation day crosses over to the Sabbath is when it does not spoil in the morning.

Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.” However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them. Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much—two omers for each person—and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses. He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’ ” So they saved it until morning, as Moses commanded, and it did not stink or get maggots in it. “Eat it today,” Moses said, “because today is a sabbath to the Lord. You will not find any of it on the ground today. Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will not be any.” (Exodus 16:19-26 NIV)

This is consistent with what Genesis reveals! God set the days of creation from morning to morning. In the case of the first day from first light to light again in the morning and later days until the Sabbath from morning to morning.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. (Genesis 1:3-5 NIV)

2/24/05 From The Lord, Our God and Savior
The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy
For Timothy, and For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear

Thus says The Lord to His servant: Timothy, concerning the Sabbath, the seventh day of each week, Saturday is the day you shall remember and keep holy. Yes, you shall keep it holy and rest. You shall do no work on this day, neither shall your wife or children, nor any guest in your house,[4] save that which is needful for your household. You may also do those things which are good and fruitful in My eyes, according to that which I command you. Yet from doing your own pleasure depart and from your own works rest, on the Sabbath day; walk not in your own way, Timothy, but walk with Me in Mine. Rest in Me, and remember. For in this you honor Me and shall surely be blessed.[5]
Therefore, this is what I command you: You shall be prepared for the Sabbath by sunset on the sixth day, ceasing from all your works as I have commanded you. You shall remember and honor the Sabbath;[6] from sunset to sunset, you shall rest and be at peace. For the time is coming when none shall have peace, when no one will be able to work.[7] Yet you, Timothy, shall work. In the midst of deep darkness you shall serve, and in you shall I shine bright, for I have set you up as a lampstand for My people. And in the day I send you, you shall become a beacon.
Therefore, Timothy, cherish the Sabbath. Pray and give worship, offer up thanksgiving in My name. Be refreshed and washed in The Word, renewed in the presence of God. And when others draw near, speak to them also; yea, testify of My Passion on the Sabbath day. Share My Word and My love and blow this Trumpet, for My Kingdom comes. Yes even on the Sabbath, and in the Day of The Lord, shall you walk in the office for which you are called. For I am also The Lord of the Sabbath;[8] behold, I am Lord over all the earth![9] Then shall the New Day come, and if you are able to receive it, it is the seventh, The Sabbath of The Lord, wherein the whole world shall rest from its evil ways.

Indeed, many things shall be put to rest
In The Lord’s Day, even death and the grave;
Destruction shall have no place,
And evil shall be far removed...

For as it is written:
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all
My Holy Mountain, for the earth shall be
Full of the knowledge of The Lord
As the waters cover the sea[10]...

Therefore, beloved ones, pray always
That you are counted worthy[11] to
Enter My rest,[12] that you may abide
In the presence of The Lord, forever.

Thus those who remember the Sabbath honor Me, and those who rest on the Sabbath rest in Me, as they look to the Day. For I had set the seventh day apart, and sanctified it, from the beginning.[13] Thus it has been a sign between Me and My people, even to this day, and so shall it remain forever. For as I spoke to the children of Israel, saying, “Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am The Lord who sanctifies you,”[14] so also do I speak to you, even to all who are grafted in. For those who obey My Commandments remain in My love,[15] and those who remember My Sabbaths keep My company, for The Holy One of Israel dwells in the midst of them. For I long for My children to be with Me where I am, I am eager to return them to the Garden, that we may once again walk together in the cool of the day.[16]
Therefore remember the Sabbath, and I shall remember you. Bless the Sabbath, and I shall bless you. Love one another, as I have loved you. Put away your works, look not to the cares of this world, and let go of your worries on the Sabbath day; spare yourselves the weight of all these troubles for just one day. Let all your thoughts dwell upon your God and Savior, and consider; yea, let your mind be filled with wonder and awe over the works of My hands. For even The Lord your God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, rested on the seventh day.[17]
So then bear your cross six days, and let The Lord carry it on the seventh. Rejoice and be merry, for this is My will for you. Then when evening comes, and the sun dips below the horizon, you may once again return to that which you choose to take up, whether it be the plow or the shears. But see that you do not take up your hand in sin, and be wary of those who do. Be separate, and stand apart from those who forsake the Sabbath and push out the hand against My Holy Days. For My Sabbaths are holy, a blessing, a time to reflect on those things I have prepared for those who love Me.

Why, O churches of men, do you forsake My Sabbaths and cast away My Holy Days, as though the devil had laid them upon your doorstep?! For My people are those who keep My Commandments[18] and take pleasure in My Sabbaths. They abide in My love[19] and have The Testimony, and do not cease from doing those things which are pleasing in My sight.

And behold, the Day is coming quickly
When The Rightful King shall rule...

And His Kingdom shall be a Sabbath,
Even one thousand years;
His reign, forever and ever!...

For The Lord has spoken, and so shall it be:

On Earth as in Heaven."

Thus says the Lord YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH. The Truth of the matter revealed, there shall come a time when there is a rest from the many snares of the evil one, even one thousand years! Pray indeed that you shall enter this rest. 6 days since Adam, the seventh day rest holy. Also never forget that His mercy endures forever, there is not only the first harvest. Here is wisdom regarding the intent of the heart:

2/15/07 Wisdom Given to Timothy
For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear

If one who loves The Lord dedicates a certain day to The Lord, yet is ignorant regarding the Fourth Commandment, or has been led astray by false teaching in the churches of men, then to The Lord the day is indeed dedicated. For this is acceptable and well-pleasing to The Lord, because of the intent of their heart; to them it will be accounted as righteousness.
Yet if another who is not ignorant of the truth, and was not led astray by the churches of men, comes forward and says, “I also dedicate this certain day to The Lord,” and it is the correct day, the seventh (Saturday), according to the Fourth Commandment, but does so as a mere outward display to gain honor for themselves, elevating themselves above others, judging those they perceive as less worthy because of their error, to them it shall be accounted as shame. For though they kept the Sabbath outwardly, they did not keep it inwardly, nor to The Lord was it truly dedicated, having not kept the Sabbath at all.
Yet the one who remains humble and sincere, though they are in error, will in time see the Truth, and keep the Seventh Day holy as it is written. For they had already kept it in their heart. For it is far easier to move someone whose heart is in the right place to the correct day, than to move someone with a wrong heart to a place that is right, if they feel they already abide there.

Yet remember this: All who have been awakened to the Truth must now walk in it...

For thus says The Lord: Beloved, walk uprightly in Me, in My very footsteps. Abide in My doctrine, according to the faith and knowledge you have received in Me. Progress toward perfection, with all trust. Keep The Commandments, as you testify to the Truth by your example. Yet no more walk in the ways of this world, nor in the doctrines and traditions of the churches, for they are corrupt; obey not the commandments of men.

Beloved, seek and you shall surely find,
For all you need is written for your
Edification in the Scriptures of Truth...

And behold, even by these many Letters,
Which are of the same, have I set
All these crooked paths straight,
Says The Lord."
