  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 2 and the gentiles being judged by the law written in their hearts. Well by the law will no flesh be justified, for by the law is the knowledge of sin, and all have sinned.
When it says their conscince perhaps excuses them, this is not God excusing their sins, it them (their conscience) excusing themselves to God, Adam did so blaming Eve, their is no salvation in that, it is a demonstration of their evil hearts.
Romans 2.....

says those who do what is right (Gentiles) are justified ..... that Yahuweh wrote on their hearts TORAH .....

Cool ! Life Saving Truth !

Without the shedding of blood, as in them being a part of the covenant established by God, there is no forgiveness of sin. And after Christ, the Old Covenant is no longer in effect, it has passed away. And before that, gentile nations were not part of the old covenant with God. That blood had to be applied by faith, by sprinkling, it can not be remote.

One HUGE problem with that: The bible does NOT use "deductive" logic. It uses a different framework called either Hebrew Block logic or adductive logic.

Good to know that but whatever you term it, the line of reasoning is the same. Terminology here won't make a difference. That is, the Bible never presents directly the Trinity doctrine, no matter how you tried to sound it as if there's a HUGH over there.

They only had a different covenant, but yes, as you say, absolutely savable. The only real difference was, animals took on the sin with their life, not Christ.

Did the animal sacrifice actually take away sins?

Heb 10:1 For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Who REQUIRED those sacrifices ?

Who was "cleansed" by those sacrifices ? (verse 2 above, you quoted)

Israel.

No one was cleansed, for if they were then there would be no more need for more sacrifice.

The verses you quoted said they were cleansed. And had to do more sacrifices every year to be cleansed again.

What is there about verse 4 that needs explained ?

In what way were they cleansed if the sacrifices couldn't take away sins?

11 Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;

Oh, btw, it is YAHUWEH who required the sacrifices. He demanded them.
It wasn't Israel's idea.

I had the wrong understanding of the word "require"...

I don't know of anyone who feels we are expected to be 100% obedient.
I believe we are to be 100% obedient. It is like calories. Eat to many you gain weight, eat to few you lose weight. This is an exact diet. Even though we do all sorts of mental gymnastics trying to trick ourselves into thinking we can get away with not eating right, we always end up paying the price.

They looked forward to the sacrifice we look back. Today when the body dies people go to Heaven. Before Calvary they went to what is called Paradise. This was when Jesus "lead captivity captive".

The body goes to sheol. When the people are resurrected, they are resurrected to eternal life, or to judgment.
