No playing Online Massive Role Play is the biggest church ever. It's more real too as you have to work in teams and use coms to coordinate stuff. CF is mostly just typing.

Well, I haven't caught all the way up by reading to the end. I managed to get to page 9 and I've gotten knocked off several times now.

I just wanted to say that after being away for what I think has been a couple of weeks, this particular thread has restored my calm and peace.

A lot of things have been going on in our community and within our circle of aquaintences and I had to go to the emergency room and then to the dentist. Stress!!!!

I would like to ask you to pray for us. We, being a small group of believers who are being attacked every which way. There has definitely been a satanic influence and we've been having nightmares and health problems since this stuff started. It's weird when we all have the same dreams and they are geared towards our destruction. These weird dreams have gone on for several weeks now and we haven't even been able to pray them away.

I'm fairing better than most as I've had worse attacks than this, but I'm getting tired. We know that there is a heavy occult influence in our area, we got somebody or a group of somebody's PO'd at us. They are relentless.

Pray for our protection. Pray that those we minister to are kept safe and are not lead astray by demonic influences, most of them are very new to the faith. Many of them had new age influences in their lives when they came to Christ.

We were formally ordained at one time and turned in our credentials because of some unseemly business going on with our spiritual covering. We haven't felt a need to seek out any other spiritual covering except for Jesus Christ but this past couple of months makes one reconsider.

It can be a place for distant fellowship if this were the atmosphere. However, there are usually hostiles who occasionally come wandering through to stir things up. Religionists tend to think very highly of their organization, more highly than they should. Most of them assume that because organized religion has been around for so long, that it must thereofre carry God's "Seal of Approval." NOT! Organized religion has its good points, and it has its bad points. I personally am happy to be free from the load of the outrageous expenditures that institutionalism heaps upon itself. I pastored many years before finally growing weary of being ground into the dirt by never-ending expenditures of the system, not to mention the expectations of the people and their thinking that I was going to be their hirling for next to nothing. No thanks. They can always find some other fool for that job. I won't play by those rules any more.

Isn't that what usually happens in the lifecycle of a .org... it may start out pure, well-meaning but at some point it takes on a life of its own, then it just seeks to perpetuate itself and not in a good way?

Well said. Spoken like a man who has been around long enough to see how things are in this fallen world of ours.

Very true. Most things mankind creates, having taken on a life of its own, inevitably seeks self-preservation at all costs, even to truth.

And how sick is it that belief = heirarchy = power!!?
That too invest faith in an organised or communal way, assumes that there needs to be men (usually) in power over us?

John is the first on record (in the Bible) to have been confronted by a religious system of organized power deeply rooted in preeminence (where the Church is concerned). It's astounding how little time it took for something so ugly to rear up from the dust of human ambition.

Yes, I have been around for a bit and seen quite a bit.... Typically a .org begins to develop its own criteria for what constitutes salvation for a person.... when the .org gets to that point there is very little reform, change, or willingness to admit that they are wrong.... Oh and the continual laying on of guilt to keep the members dependent and needing a weekly fix from the peddlers of such....

Hello. I hope I am posting correctly. New to this group. I am a christian, or I try to be a christian. I quit going to church a very long time ago. I became frustrated with the harsh judgements the churches I attended made against those who did not. I always attended Baptist church my whole life because that is how I grew up. One Sunday I was sitting in church, and a woman came in a pair of pants (this happened many many years ago), and the preacher stopped the service and told her to leave. She was not welcome in such attire. I just felt that was wrong. I believe in God, but I still have a lot of questions. I try to read the bible and understand as much as I can. I have been trying to find a non-denominational church to attend, but I live in such a small town there are none. I guess I have had so many negative experiences at church I have just given up.

Don't give up on Jesus Christ, lookforfaith. Just because you don't go to church doesn't mean you're not Christian, and don't let anyone tell you different. I just set up a page today about Spiritual Abuse that may contain something of help to you: http://www.jamesfive19.com/Spiritual_Abuse_Links_Resources.html. Hang in there! You are ok, those kooky churches are the ones that are off key. It is typical of SA that they try to make you feel bad because you are different, and they put on a spotless face of righteousness, like they never did anything wrong or even different.

Have you thought about having your husband start a home fellowship in order to still gather with other believers? I don't mean just a "Bible study", but a real, genuine fellowship.

Absolutely. Christ is not found anywhere in organized religion just because there's a cross stuck in the ground outside a dead building where religious ceremonies are performed.

No that would be Paul. And he is talking about BEING CHURCH, not going to a meeting.

Everyone has the choice to believe what they want but this is a quote from the Bible, God's Word. God spoke through Paul and if we are not to do what Paul said then we may as well throw away alot of the New Testment. He specifically said "assembling of ourselves together"
