I think these revivals are exciting! Who wouldnt want to see a powerful move of God in this nation!?!

I think we are coming into a day and age where revivals and the anointing of the Spirit is going to break out in random places: malls, schools, McDonalds'...etc

Why wait for God to move just in churches, just on Sundays? Are we not to experience a tangible taste of His presence?!? Does it not say that in the last days, His Spirit will be poured out on all flesh!?

This is not something we want to stiffle with legalism! We should embrace and take an authoritative stance in PROCLAIMING revival to this nation! :preach:

^_^ Not that kind of closet, silly! :p

A "Prayer Closet" is a place, anyplace, where you spend time, uninterrupted, without distractions, in God's presence and just "soaking up some Jesus" (as my youth pastor used to say).
amen sister. I have watched the revival. And yes, I am calling it a true revival as the Lord is moving and being glorified. I am in awe. We are having a move of the Holy Ghost in our church, it is amazing. God is so good.

We have had many "Awakenings" which is another word for "revival". Luther was the famous who revived (restored). Revive means to "to restore".

"A lot of our activity often mistaken for revival is just the church turning over, but not waking up." Vance Havner

Acts 5:38-39

And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God.”

Acts 5:34 But a Pharisee whose name was Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was respected by all the people, stood up in the council and ordered the men to be put outside for a short time.http://christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=46730535#_ftn5

Not that Gamaliel wasn't a smart guy or good Pharisee, but I'm pretty sure vs. 38-39 are not instructions for Christians so much as they are just recording what Gamaliel said. Or if they are instrucions (from a Pharisee to Christians) we should go scold Paul for some of his writings.

Consider this. The name of Jesus is being raised up. People are being healed and sinners are turning to God.

1) All kinds of people "raise up Jesus' name". Not everyone means the same thing though.
2) Sinners turn to God due to all kinds of things. God often worked His will on Israel through the pagans. That doesn't mean we are to go be pagans though. Early Christians had their faith strengthened through persecution, but I'm pretty sure persecution isn't a good thing.
3) Based on what I saw last night, yes I watched lots of it last night, there was never a connection made between healing and sinners being forgiven. It appeared more like showmanship than anything else. I may have just missed that part though since I was unable to watch the whole thing and he could have hit on it another night I wasn't watching. I'm not going to question the healings, maybe they are genuine, maybe not. I am suspect, but it's hard to say. There won't be any follow up either to make sure everyone is doing OK so my curiosity won't be satisfied. And we are warned about false miracles anyway, so just having someone "do a miracle" doesn't carry any weight with me, nor should it.

Renee,

Did you really read my post? If so did you really understand what I was saying?

Here it is again. Alpine brought up vs 38-39 like they were instructions to Christians, but I hesitate because who is giving the instructions?

Acts 5:34 But a Pharisee whose name was Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was respected by all the people, stood up in the council and ordered the men to be put outside for a short time. 5:35 Then he said to the council, “Men of Israel, pay close attention to what you are about to do to these men. 5:36 For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men joined him. He was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and nothing came of it. 5:37 After him Judas the Galilean arose in the days of the census, and incited people to follow him in revolt. He too was killed, and all who followed him were scattered. 5:38 So in this case I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, because if this plan or this undertaking originates with people, it will come to nothing, 5:39 but if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them, or you may even be found fighting against God.”

Verses 38-39 are Rabbi Gamaliel's words. They are not instructions to Christians. If you think they are instructions to Christians, which appearantly you do, then you need to go talk to Paul about writing against false teachings instead of just "leaving them alone".

I, however, don't follow Rabbi Gamaliel.
