SIN BOTHERS GOD UNTIL WE GET SAVED, AND THEN HE ENCOURAGES IT.

Oh, you mean modern day "extreme-grace" teachings by Joseph Prince and Joel Osteen and other TV preachers?



How about the claims of some that God speaks to them through centering/contemplative prayer, journaling, and other occultic means.

Nah, those that call this "occultic" believe God does not speak to people any more and are cessationists who choose not to believe in the entire New Testament... just bits and pieces of it so they don't have to be responsible for their lives.

These people fail to realize Jesus said their is NO truth in the devil, which means all satanic activity is taking what he sees God do with His people... and he does it with those that reject God is carnal strength and abilities.



Another weird one:

The gifts and calling of God are without repentance, so the absence of the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) in one's life isn't important.

Yeah, that's the OSAS crowd who needs an excuse to have a little sin in their life every now and again

It IS important - however, the fact that it is important doesn't mean that the gifts and calling go away when we are not abiding in the Vine. Balaam was a gifted and accurate prophet, but his character made him a "false prophet". Some people who prophesy, perform miracles, and cast out demons "never knew" Jesus. Gifts and calling are not a reward for having the fruit of the Spirit. Rather, the fruit of the Spirit is a reward for abiding in the Vine.

Yeah, like Jesus made alcoholic wine at that wedding as to help people get drunk which is a sin... and thus would be claiming Jesus is a sinner! :doh:

the jews drank wine, and it had alcohol in it.

Deuteronomy 14:26
and spend the money for whatever you desire—oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. And you shall eat there before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.

not condoning drunkeness, but the wine had alcohol as most know, with several NT texts to back it up, Tim was told by Paul, to drink a litttle wine, but then again, if you wish, start a thread on it, not to derail. Thanks, your pal froggy.:)

Go study Jewish history of the time of Jesus... they put a very, very small amount of fermented alcohol in to a jug of water due to the water not being that clean and they called it "wine". It would take over glasses of what they drank to equal one glass of what we would get at a restaurant.

They also called fresh squeezed grape juice "wine" when they had first made it as this was the only word that had for the fruit of the vine.

There are many warnings in the Bible against strong drink and drunkenness as intoxication is a sin. Modern medical science has proven that as little as one ounce of alcohol changes a person's thinking... and they have proven that alcohol is very dangerous for not only the liver but also the brain.

So, it is very irresponsible for a Christian to speak favorably of the sin of drinking alcohol as it is not only proven to be a known carcinogen but it brings reproach upon God's people as it encourages sinful behavior. What's next... smokin weed for Jesus?

Oh yes funny and that a woman can't use make up, because Jezebel made her eyes black.

you need to go study, not me, why would it talk of drunkeness in different passages, if it did not have enough alcohol to get one drunk!:?:D

besides, show me where it says Christians can't have a glass of wine, and how it is sin?

Here's two witnesses from the NT concerning what the Lord says...

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.



Galatians 5:16-24
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

paul sipped, Jesus sipped, Tim sipped, the Jews sipped, why presume a glass of wine turns one into a drunkard?:D
