The old man is living in sin; the new creature has been quickened.

The Mormons are withholding their thoughts. I wonder if they object to Romans 6:1 and 2.

We're still trying to suss out just what angle you're playing and what you're trying to argue.

Almost forgot: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." [I John 3:2]

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

This is not talking about the reward, this is talking about the meaning of life.
Becoming like Jesus is like unto the meaning of life. Wherefore the scripture speaks of the separating of sheep and goats, in that, Jesus did not see himself in them who still wrought miracles in his name. So comes knowing Jesus, because Jesus is Holy we are to be Holy, because Jesus is longsuffering you are to be longsuffering, because Jesus is faithful you are to be faithful. All of the traits of Jesus we are to adorn. You cannot be Holy in your own ability, for which the mystery of Grace is of tremendous value, which the majority of people don't know.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Love this!

God's Presence is even better than the mansion!
What about the presence of all of us, created in the image of God. Is that not a reward? Woohoo!!

The point I was trying to make is that 6:1 sets the tone for the entire chapter, including, of course, 6:2. They should be considered together, instead of solo.
Actually Paul wrote the whole thing as one continuos letter, no chapters, no verses and no crazy contexts. This idea of verses and chapters is an imposition of bored academics.

Yeah he's more awesome and He did say: "“It is not good that the man should be alone".

The reason I posted this is because many forget how wonderfully social the Kingdom is. In my (short) experience with other believers together dedicated to laying down lives for one another this was a thrilling taste of things to come.
My experience was such that it didn't matter how we were living in material terms or the surrounding circumstances, because we had one another and it was all very good.
So in my view this, combined with the obvious company of Jesus, will be a huge and rather undeserved gift in the Kingdom to come.

And I was going to say, "In heaven we aren't alone! The bride of Christ is there."

And all of us will receive the crowns:

1) The Imperishable Crown
2) The Crown of Rejoicing
3) The Crown of Righteousness
4) The Crown of Glory
5) The Crown of Life

The reward is life eternal in Gods ongoing plan. More will be revealed in our eternal future. There are many places to go, many things to experience, endless spiritual growth becoming like God.

The passage is about baptism;

How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

He's comparing our baptism to death and resurrection. Our old sins have been washed away they are dead and we have come up out of the water much like we will come out of the grave, with new life.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

So the law of Moses is gone and now we live under grace, but that does not mean we can go out and start sinning, God for bid.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our purpose now should be to find ways to serve God

Is there some sort of mystery to this?

If we sit around worrying about the reward then God is going to wonder if we are only doing good things to get the reward instead of out of love for him and our fellowman. He'll reward you according to what is really in your heart.

I expect it to become more apparent as Mormons respond. But, suppose we become sinless, will we be punished or rewarded?

Like anyone has to worry about "suppose we become sinless". It's not humanly possible. And, if we are sinless "in God's eyes" due to salvation through Christ, why would we be punished at all?

To me, the question makes no sense.

So are you saying that you have assurance of eternal life with Heavenly Father? I would be concerned if I didn't.

I don't know about you, but I see far more good with a disciple of Christ going about the Father's business than spending all day wondering "what's in it for me".

You're right. It doesn't make sense. But in Mormonism, there is a kingdom of glory for those who don't accept Christ.

Within the telestial glory there will be varying degrees of glory even as the stars vary in brightness as we see them. It embraces those who on earth willfully reject the gospel of Jesus Christ, and commit serious sins such as murder, adultery, lying, and loving to make a lie (but yet do not commit the unpardonable sin), and who do not repent in mortality. They will be cleansed in the postmortal spirit world or spirit prison before the resurrection (D&C 76:81-85, 98-106; Rev. 22:15). Telestial inhabitants as innumerable as the stars will come forth in the last resurrection and then be "servants of the Most High; but where God and Christ dwell they cannot come" (D&C 76:112). Although the least of the degrees of glory, yet the Telestial Kingdom "surpasses all understanding" (D&C 76:89). [See also Degrees of Glory.] CLYDE J. WILLIAMS

And where do the Mormons get this theology. Is it from another great revelation that has come to mankind after thousands of years of the inspired, God breathed scriptures that have been followed as the one and only true word of God for over 2000 years? Is this "new" book of theology from man or from God. Did God mention that He would send more scripture? Or, is this just some man pretending to be some chosen messenger for some things God forgot to tell us. Or that God has changed His mind?

I think not. I don't adhere to anything that is from some new revelation to some self proclaimed chosen man or woman.

Acts 17
8And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. 9And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go. thither went into the synagogue of the Jews." 10And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.12Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
