Many. So far, I only addressed the "internal process". Anything which changes via external process will not fit this criterion. In particular, quick reactions will disqualify many changes. For example, something could be broken.

In fact, I arbitrarily picked that criterion, and it might not be the best one. For example, I would say a cyclic process would be a better criterion to identify a so-called life process. Many changes are only oneway process.
Would you please explain how rocks can be considered to be alive? They lack both internal processes and cyclic changes, but merely change based on expensive applications of energy.

Nah, I'm trying to improve my patience by being polite to people that I strongly disagree with. Blocking people would be a mark of failure.
Good luck with that. I regret that when I see excessive levels of discourtesy and cynicism I do reach breaking point.

A rock has both processes going on all the time. They are only slower than normal.

No you can not. It is some mechanism similar to the radioactive decay. (don't ask, I won't go there).

Believe me, I can tell you exactly where the problem is between you and your "students."

Any actual teacher could.

I'm not aware of these. Can you describe them?

Only very briefly.
A Rock is changing, both surficial and inside, all the time. Chemical changes, energy changes, morphological changes.
One rock is changing into another type of rock through some describable processes.

I believe you do. However, what you know WILL continue to change. So, you do not really know.

How do you know what I do or do not really know? Will your knowledge never change?

Can I suggest to all those who, like me, have been foolish enough to try to hold a serious discussion with juvenissun it is time to ignore him. There is no benefit to enduring further his equivocation, avoidance, passive-aggressive behaviour and discourtesy.

Just enjoy the LOLs

I wish I could. I have this warped belief, based upon many years - on and off - educating graduate engineers and scientists, that communication should be meaningful, thoughtful and, as far as possible, respectful. But I'm pleased that some members can derive pleasure from it. Cheers.

I can appreciate that.

I really enjoy observing human psychology and the defense mechanisms some engage and to what levels. We have some on this site, that are off the bell curve.

Based then on your criteria, what isn't alive, then?

Do you think that stars are alive?

Remind you that I argued that rock is alive because I don't think YOUR criteria of life is good enough. And, that is the consequence of a bad definition.

According to the Biblical criteria, many things are NOT alive. Tree is one of them.
