Does it need a pump?
Not necessarily. I think that in insects the blood is moved around the body by the movements of the animal.
In other words, without a pump, would the "blood" be true blood?
Yes, I think so. Provided that the blood can carry out its function of transporting nutrients and oxygen, and removing waste matter, the existence of a pump is not essential.
