You don't care what people think of you, your faith, and your (at this point, extremely dubious) claim of being an educator?
I wouldn't talk, Valentine.

I get the same impression of you at times.

And while I do believe you're a professor of literature, I also believe you're willing to act otherwise just to rile people.

For example, I know for a fact that the King James Bible is considered by the literary world to be one of the greatest ... if not THE greatest ... pieces of literature ever written.

But you treat those who believe in It disrespectfully.

How would you like it if you quoted Shakespeare to me, and I diluted it by coming back with some Greek or Hebrew word that says just the opposite of what Shakespeare meant?

I have many students who ended up not learning.
Truly unfortunate.

If your "teaching methods" reflect your behaviour here, then it would be a small miracle if any of your "students" would learn anything, ever (from you, that is)

I wouldn't talk, Valentine.

And yet you persist. ;)

I get the same impression of you at times.

And while I do believe you're a professor of literature, I also believe you're willing to act otherwise just to rile people.

Go on...

For example, I know for a fact that the King James Bible is considered by the literary world to be one of the greatest ... if not THE greatest ... pieces of literature ever written.

And I would be the first to agree with you -- provided you're referring to "greatest" in terms of popularity, not in literary quality.

For while the Bible (in any translation) is unquestionably the most popular book of all time, we must remember that it's a collection of ancient works by scores of different authors of varying backgrounds, varying agendas... and varying levels of skill.

But you treat those who believe in It disrespectfully.

Why should I respect people who worship a book as they do a God?

How would you like it if you quoted Shakespeare to me, and I diluted it by coming back with some Greek or Hebrew word that says just the opposite of what Shakespeare meant?

Considering that Shakespeare was never translated from either Greek or Hebrew (unlike the Bible, which went through both phases), I would laugh at you* for being irrelevant.

*more than usual ;)

^_^ ... Oh, man!

Sorry ... I was just thinking of about a hundred challenge threads that go by the wayside.

Carry on! :)
Hey now, don’t be so tough on yourself.

Some of those challenges are okay.

Thank you! I figured one or two out of the bunch might hit home! :)

Reminds me of what a professor told our class once:

"If a few students are struggling, it's probably the students. If a lot of students are struggling, it's the professor."

Cute, but said nothing.
A struggling student is a good student. Professor or not.

I note that TLK has asked you no less then 4 times now to further explain yourself.
4 times have you explicitly refused to do so.

This is no longer excusable as you misunderstanding the question.

This is just plain and explicit dodging / evading actually answering the question.

I can only conclude that you are aware of how wrong you are and are doing your outmost best not to expose it explicitly in public.

It's backfiring though.

He asked the wrong question.

It is always a bell curve.

No you can not. It is some mechanism similar to the radioactive decay. (don't ask, I won't go there).
Can I suggest to all those who, like me, have been foolish enough to try to hold a serious discussion with juvenissun it is time to ignore him. There is no benefit to enduring further his equivocation, avoidance, passive-aggressive behaviour and discourtesy.

Nah, I'm trying to improve my patience by being polite to people that I strongly disagree with. Blocking people would be a mark of failure.

Sounds like a challenge. Challenge is good :p

Very well.

Could you please give me an example of something that physically exists that you do not consider to be alive?

Many. So far, I only addressed the "internal process". Anything which changes via external process will not fit this criterion. In particular, quick reactions will disqualify many changes. For example, something could be broken.

In fact, I arbitrarily picked that criterion, and it might not be the best one. For example, I would say a cyclic process would be a better criterion to identify a so-called life process. Many changes are only oneway process.
