It's such a sweet deal dozens of countries have adopted it and are doing very nicely thank you, and the majority of the people living in those countries would not have it any other way..

When my son was a day old (he's 13 weeks now, bless him) he puked green so off to the hospital we took him. He had pipes up his nose and drips in his wrist and barium down his throat (or what ever they use instead of barium, these days) and several x-rays and we stayed over night in a double room (all on the NHS [at the weekend, too @JeremyHunt]). Total monies we had to hand over?

£0.00

Any one know how much that would have cost in the USA?

That is correct. The objective moral principle, "Thou shalt not steal," should apply to everyone, including politicians and bureaucrats.

So, you want to hire a company to fix the holes in the street in front of your house?
You want to hire private security companies to secure your neighbourhood?
You want to hire private fireman companies to put out the fire when your house is burning?
You want to hire private companies to light up the streets after dark?
You want to hire private militias to protect your family during war times?

That is hilarious.

Not the same procedure, but my brother in law had a two hour back surgery that involved inserting cadaverous tissue between his vertebrae. Total cost billed to his insurance company was $175,000. You can buy a 1/8 acre lot and a small house for that much money, and that takes longer than 2 hours to build.

There's no such thing as an objective moral principle. Morals are agreed upon by society and they change with the times. That is the opposite of objectivity.

Definitions aside, it is immoral, IMO to reap the benefits of living comfortably in a country and not paying for your share of the costs.

I'd love to hear more about this magical country where taxes don't exist yet it still has a functioning government that can afford the quality of life standards we enjoy here in The US. What continent is this country on?

Did she really say that ! Surely 'free' market capitalism has run out of tax payers money. Hence many countries printing money like confetti and calling it QE.

You're mixing two different concepts. Aggressive taxation is a socialist concept. QE is a modernist capitalist concept rooted in Keynesianism. Neither of these concepts involve sound economics. Also, true capitalism is not dependent on Keynesianism.

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.” ~ Margaret Thatcher

Capitalism has the very same problem. The difference is that the capitalist driven US healthcare system is costing the American twice as much money as the socialist healthcare systems in comparable countries.

The US economy is a hybrid mixture of socialism and capitalism. It is becoming more socialist year by year and as it does so, it is becoming less effective economically. It's the socialism that is killing America, not the capitalism.

Then why do socialist controlled healthcare systems in other countries cost half as much as the US healthcare system?

Please show me where Jesus forcefully took from the rich without their consent, and redistributed it to the poor?

Please show me where Jesus supported a profit driven, corporate run healthcare system that outpriced sick people so that they were denied the care they deserved.

He didn't, and I never said he did. I'm not in support of either contentions.

Also, it is not healthcare. It is more properly called the "corporate profit system through sickness-management".

Because the data forgot to conform to the ideology?

This is a question for my American cousins: what is so wrong with socialism? Is it true that Americans hate socialism or is this just what gets shown in the media?

As a Brit living in (what America would call a socialist country) the UK I'm very happy with this style of government.

Where's the beef, here?

I'm glad you're happy with your system! I have no desire to change it or convince you that it's wrong. Why can't you Euro-Socialists let us American's be happy with ours?

Why should we Americans be happy with our healthcare system when it costs twice as much as socialist healthcare in other countries, and even then it still doesn't cover all Americans.

When someone is being conned, I feel duty bound to try to alert them to it.

And also to point out those who it fails, who aren't happy with it, who don't get the healthcare they need.
