• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is sin?

If it werent a sin, for you, you would be content remaining hungry forever. Yet you find this urge to be forgiven of this hunger, and ultimately find this forgiveness.

Right now you may feel that you dont need God to remove this sin, because you have a wealth of food in your cupboard. But I say, to those who do not have this luxury, God is able to forgive all sins, and move us from death to salvation. Therefore, trust not in what we see....but in that which we do not see. Amen.
If it wasn’t a sin, I’d be content to starve to death? I’m sure that’s not correct.

We went over this already. Being full or hungry is not a sin. It all depends on what you think about it. Let every man examine himself.....for this is the only one anyone can examine. "....for whatsoever is not of faith is sin......"

I would think that this would be good news. God have the power to forgive you of all sins.....and you need not remain in any state that you do not wish to be in.

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

You’re making no sense. Sorry.

Reading through this thread, the degree of abstraction strikes me. Sin is not simply an action, it is corruption and anti-being. It stems from the violation of God's law, that is its origin, but that is not what sin is in total. Sin is concrete, it's a stain on reality in death and corruption. Its nature is the opposite of God's nature. It is the violation of God's law, where God's law is the very breath of life that upholds reality.

No need to be sorry....for this is how God desires it to be.....

"I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

I’m just curious as to others definition or understanding of what sin is.

I like the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God.

Crossing the boundaries set forth by the Bible. Transgression.

Which is not relevant to your position. Your argument about desire is not rooted in the proper understanding of scripture.

Yes, it is also God's will that you would view me as ignorant and unlearnt. Therefore, I find no fault in this...and welcome it.

If you view sin as committing specific acts, then it would be hard to go any deeper than that.

You should read the OP if you want my view on sin.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Oh I agree and that is the Gospel of the Kingdom taught by Jesus that states God's will comes before man's.
Ic. What do you think of this "will" of God: "it is his will that none perish" how will His will stack up against man's in this scenario. Or did the will of God only hold up when money is concerned?

His will is we love all as self. Take it from there.

Wise decision not to answer. Very easy to exclaim, "God's will comes before man's!".........until we find one of His Wills that we believe will not overcome the will of man.

Sounds like it. BTW, you quoted me quoting someone --it is not my saying.
There is only one gospel. If you agree that something sounds like another gospel, you agree that there is more than one gospel.

Time to stop hiding the blessings of God under a cloud of false teaching.
