  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is it? Win blessings!

Here's my last "what is it" of the night.

This material is a personal favorite. I make jewelry out of it.

5,000,000 blessings to the first one to identify this:

It's coprolite, alright. 5,000,000 blessings going your way.

The dung has been replaced with agate, though. Doesn't stink.

I wear this pair of earrings quite often. Can't smell anything coming from them.

Yeah, wow!

That's just fantastic!

Do you have an online store or Ebay thingy to sell these?

And yeah, I'm still digging on those earrings. :)

A friend of mine used to sell some of my stuff on her online store, but it didn't sell all that well. Fossil material is very high for me to buy, especially because I get the good stuff, like fossil bone that preserves the grain of the original or coprolite that is highly agatized. Then on top of it I don't use plated junk for the findings or chain. So it's not cheap to make or to buy.

I do sell some locally strictly on word of mouth advertising. The last set I sold was when someone who recognized some dinosaur bone jewelry I was wearing and tried to buy the jewelry off my neck while I was eating at a Chinese restaurant. I made her up a new set instead.

I use ammonites, fossil crinoid, turritella, fossil bone, fossil stromatolite, orthoceras, fossil coral, coprolite, and petrified wood a lot. It isn't cheap to get the materials I work with and I don't have the patience to waste a great deal of time explaining to someone why a pair of sterling, crystal and coprolite earrings does cost twenty five bucks and why I'm not going to come down on it.

I run into the same thing with turquoise. I figure that if you want to pay plastic junk prices by all means go out and buy all of the plastic junk you want--I only work with real materials.

The set below is fossil dinosaur bone. I didn't take a great pic, but it has decent grain.

Columbus is where I ended up. I've lived everywhere from New York to California to Taiwan and some several stops inbetween.

The "Redneck" nickname came from my being into guns and hunting. Some people put that one on me as an insult but I liked it so I kept it.
