Hi;
I'm new here. I'm just going to jump in.
I'm reading a couple of books: The Shack by William P. Young. It is different, makes me a little uneasy but I'll see how it goes. Jesus in the Feasts of Israel by Richard Booker, and an e-book by Graham Cooke...Crafted Prayer

I've just started a book by Conrad Gordon called The Last Jew. It describes the wrenching experience of the Jewish communities in Spain and Portugal who suffered horribly during the infamous Inquisition. So far I'm finding it a good read and I plan to read some more of Conrad Gordon's books.

OOPS! The author is Noah Gordon  My mind was obviously somewhere else. I'm still enjoying the book. :)

This is a good thread. I am always looking for new authors to read although I can't afford the books half the time.
Right now I am reading a Frank Peretti book. I don't have it in front of me so I can't remember the name.

I get most of my books from the library sales (10 cents a book ain't bad) and the thrift shop (hardcover 1.00 and soft .25) Thats where I found The Last Jew. I've finished it and it was excellent! You can usually find good buys on Amazon.com as well...new and used books are sold there through other stores and the prices can be very good.

I found another book by Noah Gordan at the thrift shop called The Shaman but I saw that it was second in a trilogy so I'm thinking I should try and get the 1st (The Physician) before I read the middle. Then get the 3rd (The Rabbi).

Thanks for the help. You might like the site "Fruglereader.com" I have gotten some of my books from there. You collect points by shipping some of your unwanted books to others and then use the points to "buy" books and the shipping is free.

Ooh, that sounds cool. I already do ship my read books to a friend in NY. I'll have to have her check out that site too. :) Thanks.

I've now started another book called The Chosen by Chaim Potok. So far I'm enjoying it too. Click on link to read review at Amazon

Ohhh SpiritPsalmist . . "The Chosen" is one of my very favorites! I had to read it as part of our Inquiry classes as a non-traditional Freshman when I went to a liberal arts college, and it captured me so much that I just have to take it out again and re-read again it every few years or so. There just aren't many books I've ever done that with. I hope you'll enjoy it!

My daughter-the-youth-pastor suggested I get a copy of "A Generous Orthodoxy" by Brian D. MacLaren, and I just started digging into it after finally getting a used copy in the mail. So far, I'm intrigued.

I found that one as a book on line. I'll have to check it out...it looks interesting. :)

My daughter just told me about a site, goodreads.com, where people can join or start a book discussion and there are other things to do also. I think I will check it out.

I am reading "September" by Rosemund Pilcher. I like her style of writing. It is a secular book. I was fortunate enough to find it at a thrift store.

I have a small book called "A book of Golden Deeds" by Charlotte M. Younge.
It was presented to an M. Morrison at Carroch Primary School on the 14th of July 1921. (Found in a charity shop..)

It has over 100 stories dating from 1068 B.C. to 1864 A.D. Amazing stories of what man is capable of in extreme circumstances..

A little book with a big heart! J.
