Had a plumber over here today. Looked at the invoice when they were done and noticed $20 tacked on for a "TRUCK CHARGE". It was pre-printed on the form. I said "I'm being charged for a truck? Did I just buy a truck?" The lady says "No, uh, that's there because, um, uh, we use a truck." I told her next time to just walk to my house.

That's all true except for the part about the plumber being a lady. I just wanted to test how woke you are. If you think lady plumbers actually exist outside of porn films, you need help.

I hope my wife has learned some about DIY plumbing and electrical work. Odds favor the wife outliving the husband, and I hope she could take care of some of the work herself.

I lit the first Hanukkah candle this evening, but it felt a little pointless, living on the third floor who would notice from the outside.

But as the Rebbe said, do it until all eight are lit and let it inspire your deeds.

Even as an atheist... I am jealous of those who still have spirituality. I know it really helps some people. One reason as an atheist I'm a little shy about talking about it. I do think many people's quality of life would go downhill without a belief in a God.

A few minutes ago I said to my wife how I missed a Hanukkah spot that used to run on a TV station over five decades ago. It was a short song about the meaning of Hanukkah with some animation. Then there was a fire at that TV station and they never ran it again. My assumption is that it was destroyed along with most of the studio.

Thinking about the pattern of Christmas falling on Sunday. The intervals take the pattern of 6, 5, 6, 11 year, then repeats (sum of 6+5+6+11 = 28, which is the number of years it takes for both the calendar to repeat it's cycle (except for century years not divisible by 400 in the Gregorian Calendar, which causes a break between the 16th and 17th, 17th and 18th, and 18th and 19th Centuries). 2016 was the last Christmas on Sunday, with 2011 and 2005 as the previous ones. Since 2000 was a leap year, 1994 was the one prior to 2005. The next one after 2022 will be 2033, then it resumes the 6,5,6,11 cycle.
