Changed my avatar. In case anyone is wondering who it is.. it's a cartoon version of Peter Lorre.
Probably my favorite .. not sure how to put it.. but character actor from old Hollywood. Like Helen Kane and her mannerisms incorporated into Betty Boop.. Peter Lorre's speech style and mannerisms were a huge inspiration for the character 'Ren' from Ren and Stimpy.

I'm not seeing the masks, having seasonal settings turned off. If it's over the eyes, then a quasi-masquerade thing is part of some NYE parties in some places in the US, but I thought it was passé.

I tend to agree. Was in a conversation with some friends and we were discussing whether the current state of affairs is just cyclical, whether the pendulum can swing back the other way...but no, I think this is the beginning of the end. Digital technology is a game-changer that can't be undone, but this is probably a topic for another thread.True. We've already succumbed to the end of days where man serves tech instead of the other way around.

OR ... when it fails if someone shorts it all out, it will force mankind to go back to the old ways of survival and self sufficiency of a generation ago that has been all but lost and faces man with extinction. We have to fall in order to learn how to walk. At least that is what is on my mind

That's a fairly pessimistic take with which to start the new year.
Today is the first day of a couple of weeks' leave. I'm vaguely pondering what I want to do today, but it's so unpleasantly hot, staying home and not overdoing it is appealing.
