You think he did evil by refusing to hear her apology? I've already indicated that I disagree, and that the important thing initially is that he forgives her in his heart. Your quote is indeed from Scripture, but the application is from you.

Let's look more closely --
The woman stood there with her face hanging out, and her expression dropped about three feet. She started in with, "Oh, my gosh, I am so sorry...." but he held up a palm facing her and said, "Save it. You blew your chance for that ten minutes ago." Then he turned and walked away.

21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."

Matthew 18 NIV

---------------

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 6 NIV

Ask yourself though if the OP story shows he forgave her in his heart. The actual real vet may well have (we can't omnisciently see in his heart), but in this particular telling, we see a picture of a character that isn't forgiving her, or certainly not when she apologizes. So, I'd pray for him that he indeed forgive her, and that he come to Christ if he hasn't yet. That would be a good prayer.

I get it and agree-they probably both overreacted. But since it's been brought up I think we must keep in mind that God also expects something back from us- flowing from the gifts and grace given:
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours." Matt 6:14-15

We're not merely forgiven worthless sinners: we're new creations!-children of God-and expected to live and act like it, with His help as we remain in Him.

We agree the man should forgive. I deny he must do so to be forgiven (assuming he’s a believer, we don’t know). Believers suffer if they harbor unforgiveness, that’s for sure. It’s incompatible with love.

Can I share this on my social media? Thank you for sharing. There is usually more to a person and more a story than people realize.

Feel free. :)

Is this true ?

I saw almost the same story posted on Facebook about six weeks ago.

Yeah, it's true. But I didn't post it on Facebook, six weeks ago or any other time. It only happened yesterday.

People who can’t wear masks shouldn’t be in the store. Grocery stores will accommodate people in these situations with curbside or parking lot delivery the idea that his medical issue means he can put others at risk is absurd.

Exactly. His medical issue is no excuse to put others at risk. He can get his groceries delivered.

Regardless of how much of a Karen this woman was being...
It sure seems like such a nasty thing to turn someone's name into an insult like that. Lots of people named Karen don't deserve it.

The bible tells us to forgive. It doesn't provide wiggle room on acceptance or performance. Whether the person is sincere is immaterial.

I agree. We can forgive without pretending to accept insincere apologies, though. I'm sure that man won't give her another thought going forward, nor hold any resentment against her.

Very true.

I've been getting treatment from the VA for years. They have me on two different drugs that do most of the major work---one of them keeps me on an even keel during the daytime, and the other one kills the nightmares and lets me sleep at night. I was also attending weekly sessions with other veterans and a VA counselor at the VA until the pandemic hit; we can do a phone meeting, but it isn't quite the same.

Part of what I have is termed by the VA as "adjustment disorder", which basically means I don't make a very good civilian. I look at some of the things civilians say or do, and shake my head. I wonder why they'd do that, but then I remember they're not military.

Thank you. :)

God bless you and help you heal, and thank you for your service <3

I thought he was being quite callous with his response in the face of a genuinely contrite and apologetic person. She might've been a real jerk before that, but she also didn't know what she knew later.

She wasn't sorry for being an absolute horror of a human being. She was sorry that she stuck her foot in her mouth and got called out and embarrassed in public.

whoa! We best not do that of going past the words to adding any of our own extra judgements -- added on just appearances/guesses (John 7:24). Here's why! --

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you will be judged.
Matthew 7:2 For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

This is very serious stuff. His Words are for real.

It is not worth it just to get in a hit against someone to end up harming yourself profoundly.

We know people by their fruit. She came out swinging with ugly, rotten, hateful fruit. The apology was an afterthought.

You offering pay the extra $10 or so that it costs to get them delivered? Do you know his financial situation, and know that he can afford that?

As Christians, we should support behaviors which emulate the Savior not our flesh.

They could all do with a dose of shame, humility, and a reminder of how to use logic, common sense, and decency.
Yes it does seem that young people aren’t masking up in accord with common sense and science. But trying to shame them doesn’t seem to be a Christian or compassionate, reasoned way to deal with their immaturity or ignorance.

It can be difficult to look at the perspective of a person with whom we disagree.

If you or me were judged by our worst moments one day...

... And that was the standard of whether or not we be forgiven --only the bad moment alone, and not any repentance or such later....

....and no one was willing to show Grace, even when we tried to turn...

Then there would be no hope.

It's neither common sense nor science. It's mostly just chicken soup for the chicken's soul.
