Why ?I have often thought that the world won't impose a punishment on others that it wouldn't want imposed on itself. Even to save itself.

When it is suggested that drunk drivers have their vehicles impounded during their revocation period the opposition clamor is heard to high heaven.
- In innocent spouse or family member would still need access to the car.
- Even without said family members, the person would still need the car if they could secure a willing & qualified driver. (You want them to get to their addiction counseling appointments, don't you...?)

And the law doesn't take away one's right to own a car (in other capacities), just the privilege of driving one.
If their (own) business owns a fleet of cars available to their employees, do those get confiscated, too?

Well, your "spider" sense isn't working correctly. There are laws on the books that limit the liability of an innocent spouse in the guilty spouse's gambling debts. In the OP, the driver was not yet under suspension. I am talking about the initial offense, using a borrowed car.That depends on if the owner knew the subject was a drunk driver under suspension.

The premise of the OP is if driving privileges are revoked, one's car should be impounded. What should be done if the first car was borrowed?
