  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What have you understood about the charcater of The Ten Commandments??

What do you understand about the Ten Commandments?

  • The ten Commandments belong to God

  • The Ten Commandments belong to Moses.

  • The principles of the Ten commandments are restricted to a time period.

  • The principles of the Ten Commandments are/were for all times.

  • Jesus/God wrote the Ten Commandments.

  • Moses wrote the Ten Commandments

  • All men will be judged by the principles of the Ten Commandments.

  • Only the Jews will be judge by the principles of the Ten Commandments.

  • The principles of the Ten Commandments is what Jesus meant will not change. Mat 5:17-19.

  • A Christians can be saved without living up to the principles of the Ten Commandments

In light of the rest of the Bible we understand that Moses referred to God the Father. But in your perspective it clearly doesn't refer to Jesus.

Now answer me this with Bible to back it up - Who did Moses speak to?
Know this, that there is no separation in the God head in terms of character, will and doings. What do you think Jesus meant when He said He and His Father are one?
2 Cor. 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

I'm a Christian, not a Jewish citizen of Israel. I'm not with Moses thousands of years back rejecting God I've already accepted him. You example is absolutely bogus.
By the way all Christians are Jews. Christ was a Jew. Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Wrong... Paul differentiates between Jewish believers and Gentiles plenty of times.

How should I argue this? Hmmm! Coming from your standpoint I would believe Christ isn't God according to this verse. However it is most unfortunate for you that I don't.

Really I've got no clue what you think. However I think you should read the previous verse and the one following it.

Now for your question I don't believe Jesus meant He was also God the Father. What do you think Jesus meant?

Can someone help here? Please! Is there any implication or suggestion that Jesus is the Father?
Scrath, you are so bend on opposing everything I say, that you don''t look to see if it is truth or not.

I might suggest that Saint Bede the venerable, when speaking on the first chapter of Luke gave great explainations about this.

To summerize... Christ is "homousio" (of one essence) with the Father, in an unconfused union of man and God. He took upon himself the entire human nature that it may be changed.

God the Father is the source of all power, love and life. God the Son is the creator of all and exists with the Father before all time.

Simple, unified, in unconfused union, distinguishable by the fact that only The Son has ever been incarnate.

All of this, and it's still a mystery that the brain has a hard time wrapping itself around it.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

So what indicates a pre-incarnate Christ meaning Jesus?

May I suggest that we as westerners are reading the bible from the opposite end as the eastern Churches.

They (the east) do not read the bible in an attempt to figure something out.

They read it as the authors and explain what it means.

We struggle with the language and partial sentences and phrases in hopes of understanding. From the east point of view, they would carry on even if there were never a written bible. For them, its not a necessary device as they ARE the communities who have lived it.

That's the way it is for The Church of Antioch.

When 'we' read our bibles, we often times come away with the strangest ideas that have absolutely nothing to do with Christian teaching and beliefs. We see that in the strongest way here in GT.

Want to know what they meant by something... do what Rome should have done. Ask them.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

Odd that as a literate people, believing folk do not read a Bible as they read anything else. Seems many read it to prove something they believe rather than to learn what is says from those who wrote it down.

I find it even odder that so many who profess to be Christians are utterly ignorant of the Bible, having never opened it once in their lives.

Looking down the wrong end of the canon could have serious and uninteded repercussions.

Where is that picture? Hope it's warm there... it's freezing here.

I've seen that too. However, sometimes it can be counter productive to read without the glasses.

You know that's what I do right? I'm a 'reader' in my local congragation. I am commanded to read scripture every day.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

I'm smoking a turkey and having to venture out every so often. It's high 20s and breezy and yet this old Fla. beach bum is wearing flip-flops. Doesn't speak well of my wisdom. I see it's 20 where your at.

Agreed. I spent most of my youth avoiding the Bible because I needed the spiritual eyesight to understand it.

I added to my post while you were posting... sorry.

Actually, I am near Beijing, China now and there has been a stiff wind blowing from Siberia for the past couple of days. It does reduce the air pollution somewhat, but it is very cold with a low wind chill. The Chinese wear their winter parkas inside all of the time because the warm water radiators are minimal and produce only enough heat to prevent damage to the building from freezing.

Nevertheless, work continues 24/7 on a new apartment high-rise complex adjacent to the one where I am staying. I feel sorry for the men working in these conditions outdoors.

Pray for China.
