I decided to start a new thread on this and I am hoping we can discuss this in a civil way so as not to get it closed down.
Also, a lot of new members have joined CF since then and it will also give them a chance to share their views. God bless

This is a list I comprised from the first 40 posts on the above closed thread. I will work on another 40 posts when time allows...........

I put up the "post link" for each one mentioned here. The duplicates that I could see I put in "RED"......Thanks

......so you see LLoJ...the RCC or any "business" that is involved in day to day ops certainly can't allow ALL MEN to believe in Him...the only ones who are allowed to believe are those who ADHERE to their particular organizations DOCTRINE...because THAT is the FORCE they use to keep their CUSTOMERS...and if you don't buy into ANY "churches" system...they will DAMN YOU TO BURN ALIVE...

I don't need to post here as the BoC already answers the OP: Welcome to the Book of Concord

Much of what was raised in the BoC was addressed at Trent; the other issues remain.

Bottom line is that since we subscribe to the Boc, we have less issues with Vatican Catholics than we do with reformed Protestantism. Things that those members post as errors against Rome are usually against us as well.

To paraphraise Luther: I'd sooner drink Christ's blood with the Pope than wine (or grape juice) with Protestants.

I actually agree that the Vatican City is an error thus a bad invention. However, this is not the fault of the Holy Catholic Church, but that of the Unified Italian State.

Vatican city seems to be very pretty. Can't be too much of a mistake, can it?

Maybe cause protestants are sick of threads that expose the Roman "church" for what it is, bein shut down for flamin and personal attacks by catholics...

More likely it is because the other thread is more interesting.

So, do I understand you correctly to wish for a caliphate (oops! I mean a pontificate) ruling the world?

I'm gonna be absolutely honest and say that you actually bring up a really good point.

Should Christians try and re-make the world in the image of heaven? (or something along those lines)

I myself am quite schizophrenic regarding this, so I'm quite sure aye...

:)

Perhaps it is more of because some non-RCC members are afraid of responding in a way that won't get them reported and the thread closed like this other similar thread on the same topic.

That is one reason I decided to do a spin-off of it

Perhaps RCs should just stick to the OBOB board if they can't defend their position w/o acting defensive on the GT board.

.
We can, and do, defend our faith. It's just worthless to do so with you folks because you just don't get it.

This is why I call all Protestantism the Church of "I don't see how". We already know you don't see how. It's quite possible that we don't see how either. That's what faith is for.

As far as I know, it's never been Catholics who wanted a scientific answer to how manna could be formed in the desert or what would make flocks of quail fall for the Hebrews to eat. It's also Protestants that take apart Genesis and Revelation and try to read all sorts of things into them that just are not there.

But LLOJ, for you to try and shove Catholics out of your little world here is pretty...I don't know what it is. But it is one reason I left Protestantism.

At last! A Catholic who is willing to claim his Church as having given birth to its Reformed siblings.
Actually, it would be called "spawn".

Did I say I was Catholic? Catholicism didn't 'birth' protestantism. Protestantism came from Catholicism, in the same way that all other heresies came from Catholicism via changing of the faith.
Protestantism is catholicism jr .

Eastern Orthodox seems closer to the original teachings . but after the schism .. or as the scriptures call it "the rebellion" the original is not visible in an organized fashion .

Pope is to the Kings era of israel's history like the reformation is to the dividing of the kingdom between Jeroboam and Rehoboam .. that too was about "work"
Perhaps the EOC has Roman Catholicism beat on that...
It almost persuadest me to join the EOC.....almost ;)

What would it take for Orthodoxs to come under Pope

Although we share 1000 years, we have also been estranged for another 1000. We are very different. You are closer to Catholicism, as a Protestant, than is the Orthodox Church. Your separation is not as wide.
