Hi in Daniel 7 he continues and give specific other events and a timeline that give the passage a more specific context which rules out the old interpretation of changing the 10 commandments which can be debated as a separate issue. Read on in Dan 7 the next couple verse changes everything as 3 specifics are related including one that is a time table.
‘But the court shall be seated,
And they shall take away his dominion,
To consume and destroy it forever.
27 Then the kingdom and dominion,
And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven,
Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.
This additional information shows that the one speaking the pompous words will persecute the saints of the most high for a specific duration of a times times and half a time. Then the dominion of this evil one will be taken away and the everlasting kingdom is set up. This has nothing to do with changing the 10 commandments.
Rev 13 mirrors this passage.
Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”
5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue[fn] for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe,[fn] tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
If you compare Dan 7 and Rev 13 you see both the time line and the actions being identical. A times times and half a time is a year two years and half a year of 3 and 1/2 years. This is the same as 42 months. Dan says the dominion is taken away from the one who blasphemes after the 42 month where he persecutes the saint of the most high. this is the same timeline in Rev with the same objectives. In the middle of the week Rev 13 goes on to show that from this mid point with 42 moths to go this is when the mark of the beast and the image of the beast takes place where one has to worship the beast and have the mark to buy or sell. This is a change in times and laws. There is much more prophecy that can be correlated but if you sit and compare rev 13 to Daniel 7 you have a match which is amazing.
