What do you see masturbating as? Sin? Sorry about all the topics you must have!

Masturbation assists the healing of a molestation victim? Come on!

Only God can touch the hurting wounds of a woman who has suffered molestation in her past. Christian counselling is the best way to bring that about.

This thread is getting so far out of touch with reality it hurts my head!

The problem is is what if the christian counselor goes on to tell her that yes sex is evil and dirty!! how will that help her? Also different things help different people. Yes masturbation might not help some people..but it works for some I bet!

Yeah, right. I can picture her coming to you with her wounds and her fears. You'd be sure to instill even more fear and shame in her. No doubt you would tell her that sex is "actually" a gift, only she can't actually experience, or know anything about, that gift until her wedding day. And then, when the contract is signed, voila! - she can have sex! Beautiful, guiltfree, God-designed sex!

... only, that wouldn't actually happen, of course. You know full well such a thing would only traumatize her further. But hey, at least you didn't have to compromise with your moral preferences for other people's intimate lives!

Christian counselling my butt.

So you think it is ok for a married couple to touch each other ..but not themselves correct?

What goes on between a husband and wife in their bedroom is between them and God. It is all sanctioned. If they serve God, then He will tell them what is acceptable behaviour.

A Christian counsellor worthy of his or her calling would never say that to a client!

Masturbation doesn't help anyone--it is a counterfeit and tantamount to fornication--that helps no one!

Holo~

My mother was a wonderful woman of God, and was a Christian pastoral counsellor. Her main focus was to counsel women who were sexually abused as children, and were victims of incest. God gave her a wonderful method to help bring many countless women to wholeness through God's Word. she wrote a wonderful book about it which continues to bring many women AND men to wholeness today.

I helped her with that book, and so I am quite aware of how shame works in a woman who has been abused sexually.

You know nothing about what you speak.

How is it counterfeit and fornication? Also not all christian counselors are good! And if someone was unlucky enough to get one of the bad ones do you really think they are going to just go oh that was a bad one..i will go to a different one now that says something different! I doubt it once they heard it once they will likely be too traumitized to do anymore "counseling"

If you are a Christian and need counselling, you go to prayer first! God will provide a person who is more than qualified to help you.

With God we are relieved of the "what if?" syndrome! That is worry...

Well I am glad this has always worked for you..but I bet for many people it hasn;t.

What do you mean? Thankfully I have not needed Christian counselling...maybe due to the fact that I had the best mother/counsellor in the world!

Prayerfully seeking God in everything before making a decision, especially when seeking counsel the best way to live. That way you have His covering and His guidance. That is how He wants us to live.

i apologize, but the fact that this has gone on for 38 pages is just sad....

can anyone tell me how touching yourself is bringing glory to God?

can anyone tell me the common characteristics maserbation shares with other sin? (not saying it is a sin. . . . well yes, yes i am.)

LOL!

It shares a lot with other sins..the foremost being that it is done in secret.

The second is that it does bring shame (until the one who continues to refuse the correction with the shame response becomes deaf to it).

Thirdly, it just goes against God's design for life. Sex is to be a shared experience only betweeen married couples.

Just a few for ya!

I am not trying to say you needed counseling..but many people do. And not are lucky enough to know what God would want them to do. Sorry but unlike you not all of us have a direct line to God. If we did there wouldn;t even be debates like this cause we would already all know the answers!

Anyone who has come to Jesus Christ for salvation already has a direct line to God! That is what Jesus is! He longs to have fellowship with you. He wants you to talk to Him. he wants to speak to you!

If everyone realized they have this wonderful intimate relationship with God through His Word and with the Holy Spirit, you are right--there would be no debate! But we would have rather lively discussions with praises to God and respect for each other rather than the despising and ridicule that I see regularly.

It would be really nice you know if you took your own advice on despising and ridicule you know....But what I am trying to say..is how do people KNOW what God is saying to them? how do they know for sure that a feeling is from God and lets say not from the devil? Just how do people know?

actually; the problem isn't that people don't know the answer (however, this is sometimes true) it's that they don't want to know the answer.
sometimes the law seems so difficult that people just simply redefine it. It's nothing new; people have been doing it since the Garden of Eden. in essence everything that does not ultametely glorify God is a sin. this is for a number of reasons. we are created in God's image, and God is the law. with God, law and personhood inhabit the same being. but that's probably going to deep. . . :p
