So now everyone is going to think I'm demented. "War Days" by Striber and Kunetka is a good one. About a fictitious nuclear attack and the aftermath. The main character goes across the country telling what he sees.

Maybe its a subconscious thing, like I want to be able to help people when it does happen. I dont know, psychoanalyze me someone.

It's very good. It's one of those that you'd stay up all night just to finish. I never got into his earlier books and in fact really didn't like what I had read. My friend and I swap books with each other. One Sunday she came to church with a bagful of books...I of course was escatic One of the books was Monster. I said...eh, I'll give it a go. It was excellent. I'm thinking about going back and reading his earlier books.
