LOL!!! But you're right, that really is what the book is like, just add some useless sub-plots.

I just skipped ahead to the end and read all the chapters that looked important so I could discuss it with my friends who seem to think Paolini is the next Tolkien.

That's just sad. Not that you skipped around, but that people are looking for "the next Tolkien".

CS Friedman's Cold Fire Trilogy. One of the main characters who is forced to fight is one of the most hated villains. His relationship with the other main character is great. I love the whole series

Read it... Loved it!!! Haven't read any of Friedman's other stuff though.

This Alien Shore is wonderful. The other books are ok, but of the non-Coldfire stuff, this one stands out

This Alien Shore was certainly the best, but I definately think In Conquest Born was worthy of note, even if it was a little rough. Other two are kinda meh

I did enjoy In Conquest Born, but its sequel wasn't up to par

I think I like everything about the fantasy genre. But the one thing I like the most about it is that it's not realistic... when I'm reading a fantasy book, I can just forget about reality. That's good.
