waaa...yeah I know there are people in far worse condition than I am but I feel miserable. Sorta cold/flu symptoms.

So I lay around a lot, drink a lot (& go to the bathroom a lot), read some, post some, sleep some.

Wish I had some ginger tea. Have ya ever had real ginger tea-where ya take the ginger root, peel, dice, slow boil, and drink? I drink it straight, but the mrs adds water & honey.

What do you do when you're sick?

My family and I get ginger tea on Saipan imported from South Korea. It comes in a box of single-serving packets as granules, complete with honey. It is perfect!

When I steep some ground red pepper flakes into it, is is all the more the perfect cold remedy. The ginger does--I am not all sure what it does but it is nice. And the steeped-in red pepper extractives added into it opens up one's passages just wonderfully. Try it sometime!

My family enjoys ginger and many other teas, sick or not. We often buy "mystery tea"--import tea with labels we cannot read because they are exclusively in Chinese or Thai, for example. Wonder what THIS is gonna be like?!?! Pretty fun! Gave us the runs a few times, but never mind. :D

^_^Mystery tea...that does sound risky but fun.

Never tried the red pepper flakes, but I'm gonna get some ginger today and I'll try the pepper.

That depends on what is wrong with me. If it's the flu I stay in bed and die til I feel better. If it's a cold, I prefer cold pills and then at night if I have a fever I like to make a hot toddy with hot tea, honey, cream, and a tsp. of rum.

:scratch:Well I don't have any rum, but there's that bottle of Wild Turkey in the basement I bought for Y2K :)doh:) and there's that bottle of tequila a Mexican friend brought back from Mexico (complete with worm). They're unopened but guess for medical purposes...

I've got it, too.
What am I doing? Sleeping 5 hours per night and eating lots of sweets. :p

(Ya think lack of sleep may have something to do with how I feel?)

This too shall pass...

Eating sweets?!? Does it work? Can I go get a cheesecake & some ice cream & some chocolate?^_^ I can see it now, I'll get well but put on 15 lbs.

If you have the flu I would most definitely avoid the tequila. And depending on what strain of flu I would not advise a toddy if you're unable to keep things down. :sorry:

According to my wife, when I'm sick, I make her miserable. So I guess that's what I do.:)

^_^Yeah, last night I got a sermon from the mrs. on how she can't lay around like me when she's sick unless there is a high temp and she's near death--otherwise the "YOUR laundry doesn't get down and meals don't get made". She let it be known in a small way that I'm a wimp when I'm a little sick.

I always say women are stronger than men so there:p

I don't know about "works"... (good thing we're saved by grace,ha) But that's all I want to eat, and I figure I'm miserable so why not go for it?
Also we had plenty on hand because I made a cheesecake for the anniversary, and have been baking for the county fair last week.

Are you getting better yet? I've about lost my voice which makes it hard to yell at the children... I need to work on that anyway...

^_^ Ha!Ha! My kids love it when I lose my voice (which I do regularly after a soccer match) so I revert to stomping on the floor. They think it's hugely funny.

Sorry, Menno. I have no hints. I go to bed & pull the covers over my head. No-one's allowed to talk to me; not that they want to when I'm in that condition.

I'm a total wimp on the first day. I whine, and complain and carry on like I'm dying and then the next day, whether I feel better or not, I get up and get on with life and ignore it.

Luckily I very rarely get much more than the common cold.

My husband thinks it's hilarious how whiny I get. It's not like me at all.

I think reading and responding to this page jinxed me, cuz wouldn't you know it I woke up this morning with a sore throat, headache and painful gas. And my sister-in-law is getting married tommorrow! GRRRRR

Hopefully it won't get any worse, because this weekend is going to be busy busy busy. I don't have time to be sick......

.......going to make sure the medicine cabinet is well stocked........

Menno, Fasting will clean out all the poisons that buildup in your body, it gives the body a chance to heal itself.
I pray you feel better soon. Also add a little prayer.

O God

We have seen You in the face of Jesus

Having no place to lay down His head

Yet with the perfect Law for the weary
and burdened

But You are ever the Most High
Great and fearful

And the saints were dumbstruck
Seeing the King of kings who rules from
all eternity
Among them as a peasant
Homeless, despised
the offscouring of the people
They all smiled when He spoke of love

But You are ever the Self-existent One
Lord of glory

The cold of the manger
Blasphemy, that is blasphemy!
Let Him come down from the Cross if
He is Christ, the Son of God

But You are ever exalted and upraised
the Root of all being

No, it is I. Do not be afraid
I have believed You, Lord. I will not
be afraid
And when the last sun is extinguished I
will not be afraid forever
Peace I leave with you
My peace I give unto you

But You are ever gracious and merciful
full of pity

— Barry I. Hyman

Peace be with You
