What do you believe and why?

I see, you can't provide even 1 shred of evidence to base your beliefs upon.

I maintain the only provable fact is consciousness and if science is the study of provable facts, let me see the shred of provable factual evidence that you have to support your theory that the universe exists outside of consciousness. Or is it that you don't believe in the merits of science being based upon provable facts and you just like to base your beliefs upon ideas that you have actually no real grounds of support for?

You ridicule others for believing in God without having any evidence of factual proof and now I am asking you to do the same: provide factual evidence for your ignorant beliefs please.

Are you an idealist just like theperfectfix? Do you believe that there is a physical universe outside of people's minds? If so, how do you justify that view?

I actually think this is a very good question worthy of the philosophy section.I'm Christian so my ideas align with my faith. This question however I will not answer in this thread full of argument. I'm not opening that can.

In other words, theperfectfix, you aren't going to get a legitimate answer. Most members on this section that are theist don't like when questions are put on them to explain anything. Instead of actually looking for answers they have made it an art of denying answers.

I'm sure that you would be understandably taken aback if someone on the street approached you and said, "Prove that we are not living in the matrix!" This is sort of what is happening here. I didn't initiate a discussion on the merits of materialism versus idealism, yet someone has approached me and somewhat arbitrarily cast me into the role of a materialist and demanded I provide justification for the role they've assigned me.

Lol I didn't say I wouldn't answer it. I said I wouldn't answer it in THIS thread, full of argument. Because of posts like ^
Because this is a garbage discussion.

I dont have time for nonsense.

If there was a chance for a real philosophical discussion such as the question posed, I would be psyched. But with comments like these that lack any imagination and only serve to boost your ego, it is impossible.
So take care!

The comment was almost word-for-word identical to your own comment. Are you admitting that your own comment was lacking imagination and only meant to boost your ego?

By copying my post and not posing any original idea.

Do I have to explain everything? I will not get into a discussion with you. They lead no where and i have no time for mindless garbage. Take care

The original idea wasn't too profound. Don't flatter yourself.

Neither do we, which is probably why you have the impression that atheists don't answer certain questions.

Now maybe you can start a belief system that is actually backed by factual evidence, instead of ridiculing people for believing something that actually might make infinite more sense than a belief system that has absolutely no factual evidence behind it: atheism.

Hang on, since when did accepting your conclusion (even for the sake of argument) entail accepting theism? How does that follow?

Lol the question posed was a legitimate philosophical question, unlike the nonsense that is constantly discussed in this board.

Are you suggesting that discussing religious philosophy - the most discussed topic on this board - is nonsense?

Religious philosophy and Christian apologetics are completely different. Of religious philosophy was discussed it would not be nonsense. But to be argumentative you must try a play of words I suppose. In which case I say take care, enjoy arguing and going no where. I will pray for you and no longer respond to your weak lure. Again, take care.

Consciousness.

There is a book called biocentrism, by Robert Lanza, that you should read. It basically states that quantum physics points to the fact that the experiments done show that consciousness is creating the world we see, not the other way around.

The truth is that consciousness is the only provable fact, not the physical world that we see in our consciousness and that since the only fact we have is consciousness, we should use facts not hypothesizes to base our beliefs upon, which is what Atheists do: as there is not proof the physical world exists outside of consciousness. God is the Eternal Consciousness: the first cause.
You're referring to a physical book that exists apart from your consciousness, as evidence that solipsism is true ? Do you see the irony ?

What was the last thing you created with ONLY your consciousness ? I mean I'm assuming you've done things with the rest of your body: things like breakfast, lunch, eliminating your waste, typing on the keyboard. Did you pay for the book you read ? Did you use your eyes to read it or did you imagine it into existence ?

I'm being serious: can you please tell me something you've created with your consciousness only ? I realize that solipsism is a rabbit hole, so take it to a practical level.

I am still waiting for the shred of evidence to show that the physical world actually exists outside of consciousness. Just 1: go ahead.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but where did you get the notion that "Science is the study of provable facts"? Any good scientist will tell you that is nonsense.
