  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what do teens really think about heaven and hell?

I think heaven is a gift of God. It is his gift to all those that choose to accept it. The people that get to go to heaven are the ones that realize they are incomplete without God. They must fully surrender to Christ and ask for forgiveness of their shortcomings. Heaven will be wonderful, when it is my time to go there.

Heaven is where Jesus is. And that's where those who endure to the end will join Him at. It's where Timothy, Peter, James, John, and Paul are. There are verses about what's heaven's like. But personally I don't focus on it. I am here to serve and serve I will. Focus on the issue at hand, I sometimes say.

Hell is eternal punishment. The lake of fire. Say hi to the prince of darkness. Wait, actually don't. Hell is where that demon who offered me power is going. Hell is where it came from. Satan is its master. And I am their enemy.

Both Heaven and Hell are ruled by the Almighty God.

For those who have been called to Christ by the Father, Heaven is a place where they shall spend the rest of eternity in complete bliss and happiness worshipping their Creator...as it should have been all along.

However, Hell is the place where those who have not been called go to. It is a place where the wrath of the Holy One is poured out upon non-believers for eternity.

I believe that once you are happy and reach Nirvana, you go to heaven which in Buddhism is basically space and your soul is just energy.

Hell is the place that you go if you have very bad Karma and were unable to get rid of your Dukkha in life, therefore you are suffering. However, after you work things out there for a while you return to this world (or perhaps another?) and enter another shell(body).

Well , doesnt that sound nice. If you ask me , heaven and hell are just made up to control people.

This God you speak of....sounds lovely. It sounds like the very definition of love and benevolence, with all that pouring out of wrath upon all but a tiny minority of people. Yes, lovely, indeed.

But on second thought, I think I'll go to Ryoko Ozaki's Nirvana, if that's ok with you all.

First off maybe someone here can explain to me why there is hell in the first place. I can't really believe that god loves you, he forgives you for your sins but hey hes still going to have you tortured for eternity by a big red monster with horns. Is this yet another legitimate question that religious people chose to ignore? If someone really believes in heaven and hell then that is just more proof that religion is a socially accepted form of insanity. A subject where the application of common sense is exempt for reasons as mysterious as the way god works when he lets millions of kids starve to death.

Fortunately i really don't feel that most people believe in heaven and hell. If they did, their whole lives would revolve around one question. Am i going to spend eternity in bliss, or being tortured. If people turly believed in heaven and hell they would literally become saints. But instead they sin and routinely break over and over again nearly every one of the 10 commandments every day of their lives. Most people wouldn't gamble $5,000 yet I'm supposed to believe that they would gamble spending eternity in bliss or eternity being tortured? I don't think so.

And what does heaven and hell mean to me? Absolutely nothing because i don't even know if Christianity is the right religion. Out of the millions of religions in the past, present, and future it is the pinnacle of ignorance for anyone to believe that they have found the right one.

Buddhism's mainly about finding the right path for yourself, and does not really involve what will happen later. The Buddha taught not to worry about what happens after death, worry about the here and the now, which is what truly matters afterall.

Does it matter if you're going to hell or whatever when you die more than it matters if global haulocaust is going to happen in the near future? I definately would rather make peace now then worry about where I'm going when I die, because after I do enough to satisfy myself and feel that I now longer have a need to live inside of shells(bodies) anymore, then I can move onto Nirvana, and be happy forever.
