what do people here think of Joyce Meyer?

i do not agree with everything she teaches

but i have admit, she seem to really understand problems most Christians faces incl worrying, self esteem , wrong ungodly thinking and forgiveness, and she has this gift of preach in a way that make you see God words in a whole new different light and help you understand how to implement them

some of her teachings really helped me a lot.

But, and it's a big but...when teachers teach the word of the Lord it is up to YOU to check what they say against what was really said.

My thought is the one or two times I watched her....I didn't hear much about God's word. Many say they are Christian and...are not. Does that apply to her? I don't know but tread carefully about anyone.

I have not listened to much of her speaking but know she will not wear the same suit of clothes twice and she sure make a bundle of cash. I hear most of what I know of her from women who listen or have read her books. Can't say I like what I've heard. Sound like a pseudo Benny Hinn of the female type. I did hear her speak about worrying while channel surfing. She was spot on about how it can hurt one but her remedy was about like saying , "JUST STOP IT". She always has something for sale. But she's about what i expect from a rich TV evangelist type. Living like a queen while preaching to the peasants about giving to the poor. Namely poor Joyce.

actually, i have listened to her teaching on worrying

she may have said to stop it

but she also said the reason we do not need to worry is because we need to put our faith in God

and He will not disappoint us

and that we need to have this mentality

i do not know how my problem is going to be solved

but God does.

that is not to say we just waiting around on God

but it does mean we try our best and leave the rest up to Him

it does not seem to be unbiblical to me

but i could be wrong

I do not always agree with some of her biblical interpretations, but she has a wonderful grasp of things and gets the human psych pretty well spot on and with a sense of humor. I do not have to agree with everything a person says or does in order to like them and pray for God's wisdom be given them. You're always safe in praying for God's wisdom for anybody--we all need it!

Traveler, Joyce Meyer's personal advice in some areas is quite good. I was helped by one of her books. It is Joyce Meyer's theology that has issues.

And you don't think that maybe advice built on bad theology could be rather dangerous?

I think that is what makes Joyce Meyer dangerous. Her teachings are more palatable to Christians familiar with some Christian knowledge. She is not as obvious as the real fruit-loop Televangelists and therefore more likely to mislead well-meaning people.

She is a good teacher and you always have the Bible to back up the teaching - never take any teaching without checking it out yourself.

I think every Christian will be judged on what they have built on the foundation of Christ, and how many they have led to a real and meaningful relationship with Jesus, anything in error will be tested with fire

considering I have not led even a fraction of the people she has led into relationship with Jesus I can say nothing against her.

and I find this same thing to be true with a whole slew of TV evangelist on the air today

its much like the disciples telling Jesus about those who were not with them but were preaching the gospel, "SHOULD WE STOP THEM?"

Jesus said no........so I say let them continue preaching Jesus is the Messiah, the way of salvation

The women here generally give her her due, while the men generally scoff.

She herself intends her lectures to be primarily for women. It appears she's been effective at it.
