Except if you are a godless communist, being rich is not normally considered a sin.
I know this passage.Christ did say that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God (Luke 18:25). This was after He advised the rich young man to go and sell all that he had and give it to the poor. The rich young man couldn't bring himself to do it, so he had to walk away from Christ.

I know this passage.
Yet He also did bless men in the OT with extreme wealth.
It's a matter of the heart.
Where your HEART is, there your treasure will be.
Job, upon losing ALL he had (millions?), said "Naked
I came into ... and naked I'll return, The Lord gave
and the Lord has taken, blessed be the name of the Lord".

Luk18 said:But when he heard this he became quite sad, for he was very rich.
SolomonVII said:Jesus tells us that wealth does not make things easier--does not make happiness easier even. The rich man was not happy; he was sad.
Conversely, Jesus was completely without worry, He was tied down by nothing, not even a place to lie his head, no dead to bury, but he and his follower, like children relied completely on the kindness of strangers taking him in.
This to Jesus, was happiness. This was where the kingdom of heaven is even.
Behold the kingdom of heaven is very near indeed.
Nowhere in the Gospel does it say that being rich is a sin though. What it tells us is that the rich have grave responsibility toward others. 'With great power comes great responsibility' may not be a Biblical quotation, but it is a Biblical principle. Woe unto them indeed who do not create a society which provides a way for the orphans and the widows to live in there societies with dignity.
Not tied to family, or plough or to the responsibilities of wealth, Jesus recognizes the happiness that is blessing of any bridesgroom. The life of the bridegroom is after all, profound happiness. It is the kindgom of heaven even.
He also knows that his descent into suffering and hell is coming soon enough.
But his message about the rich official was not that wealth was a sin. That is not a Biblical principle. His message instead was one of profound hope, for even if it is impossible for a camel to enter into the eye of a needle, with God all things are possible.

I don't want to read it and I don't want to judge Joyce meyer or anyI'm convinced that Joyce Meyer and her husband are bogus. Read this link:
Joyce Meyer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Note, again the link that exposes the worldly lifestyle, that she and her family live. It doesn't jive with the life of Jesus.
I don't want to read it and I don't want to judge Joyce meyer or any
other man or woman of God.
Maybe that's not my place...?
Not to be rude, but you do realize that your denomination is considered
bogus by some of the 'watch groups'.
And just like those "exposing" Joyce, they have "proof" that your
sect is ... well you know...
Here's one link
Now I have no idea why they say this, and I don't care to find out
why at this time.
My belief in the gifts of the Spirit is called heresy by some too.
Don't you think we spend an awful lot of time yelling foul and
condemning others rather than loving.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that Scripture warns against
false gospel and division, but it says a LOT more in that book
as well.
Worrying about our brothers shouldn't be our "FOCUS"
(I am talking about 'focus' here, before someone comes
along and accuses me LOL sheeeeesh )
And love covers a MULTITUDE of sin.
I think we should look for those who are haters
and post links about them here instead
JK
Even though I didn't click on that link, I have heard that Joyce
has some ridiculously priced potty, and being blessed with
wealth is one thing, squandering and greed are another.
I'm not a Joyce cheerleader, I'm just trying to be fair and
do unto others as...
But still, is that my business?
And can one have a little and be just as greedy as
one with much?
I still think it's the heart.
Gnight.
Perhaps you misunderstand me.You are denial of the facts. They are using ministry to live the high life.
Might not want to speak to folks in such a way.I mean what kind of Jesus do you worship?
Perhaps you misunderstand me.
Might not want to speak to folks in such a way.
It's mean and hurtful but besides that, it's easy to get
reported here.
i do not agree with everything she teaches
but i have admit, she seem to really understand problems most Christians faces incl worrying, self esteem , wrong ungodly thinking and forgiveness, and she has this gift of preach in a way that make you see God words in a whole new different light and help you understand how to implement them
some of her teachings really helped me a lot.
But is that what the Christian life is really about - trying to live a better life for Christ?Joyce Meyer just keeps encouraging me to try to live a better life for Christ everyday. The way she admits her past mistakes and applies The Word to her daily life helps me. Sometimes when you listen to some ministers they never admit to one mistake they've made. She has particularly helped me to understand how to take every thought captive and renew my mind with The Word. That alone has helped me tremendously. I'm very thankful for her ministry.
Christ is our hope and our joy, not our own works or emotional experiences.
