Except if you are a godless communist, being rich is not normally considered a sin.

Christ did say that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God (Luke 18:25). This was after He advised the rich young man to go and sell all that he had and give it to the poor. The rich young man couldn't bring himself to do it, so he had to walk away from Christ.

Yet He also did bless men in the OT with extreme wealth.

It's a matter of the heart.
Where your HEART is, there your treasure will be.

Job, upon losing ALL he had (millions?), said "Naked
I came into ... and naked I'll return, The Lord gave
and the Lord has taken, blessed be the name of the Lord".

Luk18 said:
But when he heard this he became quite sad, for he was very rich.

Jesus tells us that wealth does not make things easier—does not make happiness easier even. The rich man was not happy; he was sad.
Conversely, Jesus was completely without worry, He was tied down by nothing, not even a place to lie his head, no dead to bury, but he and his follower, like children relied completely on the kindness of strangers taking him in.
This to Jesus, was happiness. This was where the kingdom of heaven is even.
Behold the kingdom of heaven is very near indeed.

Nowhere in the Gospel does it say that being rich is a sin though. What it tells us is that the rich have grave responsibility toward others. 'With great power comes great responsibility' may not be a Biblical quotation, but it is a Biblical principle. Woe unto them indeed who do not create a society which provides a way for the orphans and the widows to live in there societies with dignity.
Not tied to family, or plough or to the responsibilities of wealth, Jesus recognizes the happiness that is blessing of any bridesgroom. The life of the bridegroom is after all, profound happiness. It is the kindgom of heaven even.

He also knows that his descent into suffering and hell is coming soon enough.

But his message about the rich official was not that wealth was a sin. That is not a Biblical principle. His message instead was one of profound hope, for even if it is impossible for a camel to enter into the eye of a needle, with God all things are possible.

Some great insights here.
May God help us all to seek first
The kingdom of God and His righteousness.

2co 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

I'm sure Jesus did not have a bunch of money taken from him in the above verse

Hidden treasure in the story of the rich man that thought he was good. That had a hard time giving up his riches.

What is it to be rich in the eyes of God to where he is pleased with us and what does it mean to be poor in the eyes of God to where he is not pleased with us.
What does it mean to be Rich in Gods eyes in the sense that he is not happy with us and what does it mean to be poor in Gods eyes to where he is pleased with us.

The story of the rich man is to not be taken literally...if so then you would also have to build yourself a wooden cross and carry that to.

The rich mans wealth is his works and his high-mindedness.To pick up our cross is being humble and admitting that we are sinners.

I like Joyce and see her as someone who is wise and she would be great as far as a woman elder....I have not heard all she has had to say though..just watched a couple of sermons.

I'm convinced that Joyce Meyer and her husband are bogus. Read this link:

Joyce Meyer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Note, again the link that exposes the worldly lifestyle, that she and her family live. It doesn't jive with the life of Jesus.
I don't want to read it and I don't want to judge Joyce meyer or any
other man or woman of God.
Maybe that's not my place...?

Not to be rude, but you do realize that your denomination is considered
bogus by some of the 'watch groups'.
And just like those "exposing" Joyce, they have "proof" that your
sect is ... well you know...
Here's one link
Now I have no idea why they say this, and I don't care to find out
why at this time.
My belief in the gifts of the Spirit is called heresy by some too.

Don't you think we spend an awful lot of time yelling foul and
condemning others rather than loving.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that Scripture warns against
false gospel and division, but it says a LOT more in that book
as well.
Worrying about our brothers shouldn't be our "FOCUS"
(I am talking about 'focus' here, before someone comes
along and accuses me LOL sheeeeesh )

And love covers a MULTITUDE of sin.
I think we should look for those who are haters
and post links about them here instead :D
;) JK

Even though I didn't click on that link, I have heard that Joyce
has some ridiculously priced potty, and being blessed with
wealth is one thing, squandering and greed are another.
I'm not a Joyce cheerleader, I'm just trying to be fair and
do unto others as...

But still, is that my business?
And can one have a little and be just as greedy as
one with much?

I still think it's the heart.
Gnight.

You are denial of the facts. They are using ministry to live the high life. I mean what kind of Jesus do you worship? That kind of affluent worldly lifestyle doesn't jive with the Scriptures. You need to face the naked truth.

Perhaps you misunderstand me.

Might not want to speak to folks in such a way.
It's mean and hurtful but besides that, it's easy to get
reported here.

Joyce Meyer just keeps encouraging me to try to live a better life for Christ everyday. The way she admits her past mistakes and applies The Word to her daily life helps me. Sometimes when you listen to some ministers they never admit to one mistake they've made. She has particularly helped me to understand how to take every thought captive and renew my mind with The Word. That alone has helped me tremendously. I'm very thankful for her ministry.

Look at the life of Jesus and Paul. Paul made tents even though he should have been supported by the early Christian church. He gave the new converts in the NT, an example of the the sacrifice that it would take for the Gospel to spread. Paul would no doubt rebuke Joyce Meyer and her husband to their face if he were alive today. Can you picture Paul living large like the Meyer's? I don't think so!

i do not agree with everything she teaches

but i have admit, she seem to really understand problems most Christians faces incl worrying, self esteem , wrong ungodly thinking and forgiveness, and she has this gift of preach in a way that make you see God words in a whole new different light and help you understand how to implement them

some of her teachings really helped me a lot.

Pop-Christianity mixed with pop-psychology (and not even good pop-psychology) mixed with watered down WoF heresies.

Why any Christian would want to watch this wolf-ette, I have no idea.

I guess some people just have discernment.

But is that what the Christian life is really about - trying to live a better life for Christ?

Christ already lived a perfect life, not for himself, but for you and me and all mankind. We can never live a perfect life and when we try we will always ultimately fail, either by recognizing the truth and falling into despair, or lying to ourselves and becoming eaten up with pride and judgmentalism.

She directs people to look inward at themselves instead of outward to the cross of Christ. When we focus on Christ instead of ourselves we cannot help but do good works for those around us, simply by living our daily lives in service and submission to one another.

Christians don't need to turn back to the law. To do so is to nullify the cross of Christ. They need to turn and to keep continually turning to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, crucified for each one of us.

Christ is our hope and our joy, not our own works or emotional experiences.

"Emotional experience" ...Sheeesh... Give me a break. Why is it whenever the Holy Spirit touches the heart the Sardisean labels it as an "emotional experience?"

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: - 1 Peter 1:8

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. - Galations 5:22

The fruit of the Spirit are spiritual attributes... Not mental.
