I've said before that in the few times I've watched Joyce Meyer ministries, I just don't get that she has the spirit at all. She's boring. And even acts as if she really doesn't know the scriptures that well, as when she reads from the book there's a subtitle on screen that shows that particular scripture. And she's not reading it word for word.

Not impressed.
Also in 2010 she and a few other Televangelists were under Federal investigation. Of course that never went anywhere because what would really happen if the Fed and IRS ticked off a few hundred thousand devout followers of those purported to be multimillionaire charlatans for Christ? :o

My brother, God was compelled to. THat is the horror that Jesus faced for us. He was compelled to absorb the wrath of a holy God (in our stead).

Jesus cried out that God had forsaken Him. He was compelled to. His only begotten Son became sin for us (no He was not a "sinner") He was the spotless Lamb of God. He could not be a "sinner" and be the spotless Lamb of God.

Yes, I agree with that. Jesus died for our sin and paid the cost of our separation too, as the sinless son of God. That is the Horror of great darkness. What a wonderful saviour we have. He then made an open show of the enemy NOT the other way round.

That is very different to what the WoF movement says.

It didn't go anywhere [yet] largely because the politicians and high powered folk of every sort play the identical same games.

If you have good enough legal advice you CAN even get by with murder.

I like the Wayan/Carrey parody on this matter. It's much more truthful, but watch to the end for the MIRACLE:

Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey as every evangelist ever - YouTube

One US Senator with a burr under his saddle caused that, and it went nowhere because there was nowhere to go. As for annoying someone, a government that can fine and tax entire churches like the Roman Catholic Church merely for following their beliefs is not likely to be afraid of a handful of TV evangelists. In fact, had they made some sort of case, the Obama administration would have won the applause of the usual "freedom from religion" kooks that see BO as their guy.

I would guess she is very orthodox on that matter i.e. everyone who doesn't believe like her is toast....;););););)
Where did she ever imply that?

[I know Roman Catholicism used to and may still do, and some Protestant denoms may also teach that]

The part in the video about the private jets is great! Kenneth Copeland comes to mind.

So true. Money isn't the root of all evil but it sure does pave the route for those who are already evil.

I love the Living Color reruns. Jim Carey was off the hook. ^_^ And Damon Wayans and his whole family are rare talents of funny. Great TV.

.

Yeah, unfortunately she does:

Joyce Meyer, “The Devil thought he had it, the devil thought he had won. Oh they were having the biggest party that has ever been had. They had my Jesus on the floor and they were standing on his back jumping up and down laughing and he had become sin. Don’t you think that God was pacing wanting to put a stop to what was going on. All the hosts of hell were up on him, up on him, up on him. The angels are in agony, all the creation is groaning. All the hosts of hell was up on him, up on him, they got on him. They got him down in the floor and got on him and they were laughing and mocking, “haha you trusted God and look where you ended up. You thought he would save you and get you off that cross – he didn’t haha.”

“There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell.”

Do I believe Joyce was telling the TRUTH?

Uh, not a lick.

Sounds like to me she is quoting from Matt 27/Mar 15/Luke 23 ;)

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary
Jesus vs the Pharisees, Scribes and Judean Rulers

Mat 27:42 "He saved others; Himself He cannot save.
If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.

Mar 15:31 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, "He saved others; Himself He cannot save.

Luk 23:35 And the people stood looking on.
But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God."

Believing in Hell is not a heresy. Denying the existence of Hell is.

Of course, she didn't say that at all. And the quotation with the big red letters doesn't say that, either.

Squint invented this out of a disgust with any preacher who believes what almost every Christian denomination, Protestant or Catholic, does with regard to Hell. And he was called on it when he posted the same thing earlier.

Of course I read it. I only mentioned "red" in order to identify the passage.

Some believers know that the LoF judgment has not yet transpired Albion, so no, Jesus did not 'go to hell' to take our place and if we don't believe that we're not saved.

Well, maybe you do believe that?

Here is Joyce again:

"You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell.”

Believe thou this?

Uh, no Joyce, sorry, I don't. In fact I consider such a statement utter and complete nonsense.

But it's a free country. Preachers make up fairy tales to condemn other believers everyday. Nothing new.

You work so hard to find fault with ideas and words that are perfectly fine. If Jesus had not gone to the Cross--and died--we would all be headed for hell because none of us would have any way of escaping the consequences of our sin. That's what the line you are so worked up about says. Naturally, she chooses to speak in a conversational way rather than as some sort of professorial lecturer--that's the purpose of her ministry. But the concept, albeit put in a colloquial way for ease of comprehension, is entirely correct. To be sure, if anyone happens to be a Unitarian Universalist or Gnostic of some sort, preaching from the Bible is likely to make the blood boil, but that's not her fault.

Then you believe that. I will keep that in mind.

For the record I do not believe Jesus went to hell nor do I believe that we have to believe that to be saved.

I also believe that presentation to be entirely heresy.
