The problem is trying to compile a list of commandments and attempting to keep them in our own strength. All that does is to lead to being a religious, self-righteous, lost sinner still subject to the wrath of God and a future in hell.
A genuinely converted believer will seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and will allow the Holy Spirit to work holiness in him. He seeks the Holy Spirit to reveal all known sin in his life, and then confesses them one by one until his accounting with God is up to date. Then he asks the Holy Spirit to work sanctification in him and then follows the Spirit's directions as they come to him.
He refuses to have any trust in his own ability to sanctify himself by trying to follow a set of commandments in the flesh, and trusts completely in Christ to work holiness and sanctification in him.
Yes and some people believe but disregard the guidance of the Holy Spirit out of a desire to live a sinful life. So you are still basically saying that obedience to God’s commandments are necessary for salvation because they must adhere to the guidance of the Holy Spirit to instruct them. Everyone has the ability to either adhere to the Holy Spirit or not. The result is choosing to refrain from sin or indulge in sin. So your still saying that obedience is necessary for salvation but just in a different way.
