I didn't claim he meant anything...you worked that in there somehow.

I simply asked what I asked...I needed to assume nothing in order to ask it.
Excuse me, but I thought the thread was about the commandments of Jesus. If what you said aren't the commandments of Jesus, why did you make such a statement? To argue?

I disagree here. Thanks anyway.

So, to confirm, you believe the struggle in Romans 7 is Paul as a Christian, and not someone before Christ and still under the law (like it says).

I'll put it this way, before I go back and try to find it, do you generally answer all questions?

See, if they aren't answered right off it causes problems, they get lost in the shuffle, people forget who asked what and the debate becomes rather one sided for those who try to answer all questions.
I do even after some one proves beyond a doubt they have bad motives for posting. I love the truth. There are exceptions to this like LGW's spasm posts. I got them memorized.

OK, I see how it's going to be. I gave you every chance in spite of your time wasting, contrary actions. Go ahead and sin if that's what you choose to do.

If you read Romans 2 carefully all you will find is the condemnation of the Jews. The Jews were judging others and Paul claimed that the Gentiles blasphemed God, because of how the Jews behaved.

I did not see how chapter two of Romans could possibly support your claim.
I don't see how anything in Romans could come close to supporting any of his claims.

Paul is talking to the Jews in Rome who were under the law, Paul has in effect been talking to the Jews since chapter two.

I agree with your assertion.

Real sin is rejecting Christ.

It is amazing to me that even though it is written in plain English that chapter 7 is about those under the law, but just because Paul is using a personal present tense (which is a Semitic (Hebrew) writing style, they think it is Paul's state as a Christian, and the context goes right over their heads. Romans 7 and 8 are contrasting chapters - before and after Christ. Law vs. Spirit.

Why do people not understand the text?

Even commentaries are often wrong when it comes to the letter to the Romans.

In this day and age, I am baffled to why people do not understand the text.

Chapters nine and ten give the game away completely. Paul explains why Israel failed and he had been doing that since chapter two.

Why folk walk off on a tangent in chapter seven is bewildering.
