Rom 7:14-8:7 I identify with Paul.
Are you asking whether a person should try to be holy?So no one should even try, right? Is that what you are saying? It is about trying to and when you fail, you have forgiveness...grace.
I cannot sin.And yet you still sin, which is against the law. Following the law is not now about justification or salvation, it is about loving God and your neighbor...of course you will fail, but now you have grace...
Is what He commanded different than what the Father commanded? re their wills different?
You speak as if the new covenant isn’t with Israel - Jeremiah 31:31-33God annulled the Mt Sinai covenant between the nation of Israel and Himself, their house was left to them desolate.
God then later annulled the covenant in His blood with the nation of Israel, because they rejected the Christ, they were then grafted out, cutoff from Christ.
So the nation of Israel broke both covenants.
The Gentiles were grafted into the covenant of blood through faith in Jesus and stand only by that faith in the Christ. Gentiles are the recipients of God's kindness, i.e., God's grace.
Are you asking whether a person should try to be holy?
Well everyone who believes in Jesus is fully justified already, fully reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.
We are as pure as the driven snow and we are granted the righteousness of Christ. This is all ours purely as a gift through the grace of God.
All that remains for us to do is be thankful, rejoice always, and to walk in the Spirit. This is a downhill run not an uphill battle.
We don't try to be holy and we cannot fail to be holy. In Jesus Christ you are already divinely reconciled and holy, everything is given to you to live the Christian life.
No one can fail as a Christian because nothing can separate us from the love of God!
....................................
1Jn 3:23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
1Jn 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
.
I cannot sin.
If one knows it is impossible, why attempt what you know is not attainable. Isn't that self abuse? For what purpose? To attain a righteousness of filthy rags?So no one should even try, right? Is that what you are saying? It is about trying to and when you fail, you have forgiveness...grace.
We don't answer to the law because we're not under that covenant. Being lead by the Holy Spirit I don't need to check the rule book and live in fear. And yet you still sin, which is against the law. Following the law is not now about justification or salvation, it is about loving God and your neighbor...of course you will fail, but now you have grace...
What you're trying to do is place me under obligation to the law. I've seen your argument and approach before.I am asking if you sin.
Yes. Now what do you mean by their wills being different? Are you attempting to say I believe I can go in the opposite direction of the moral aspect of the law? This has already been tried with out right statements about murder and adultery. Is what He commanded different than what the Father commanded? re their wills different?
What exactly don't I understand? Isn't it that one can sin and avoid the punishment of the law? Then people want to talk about cheap grace. Don't you really give yourself permission to sin and avoid the consequences?Because you don't understand it...
do what?So sad is why you do...
Paul is on the same level as Moses. That was Paul
Why? Hoping I'd go on your rabbit trail and say something ignorant?I know...I was asking you.
And you'd get the same response.Nice dodge as you would say. Is your memory shot? You can't even remember what you said? You said: "I would still have a covenant of redemption. Doesn't matter much what name is has." So I asked you How, Why, With Whom would you have this covenant. Remember, you said the NT and NC has nothing to do with the OT and OC...the NT and NC is not based on the OT and OC...
You're trying to get me to say something that isn't true for the purpose of beratement. The law didn't invent sin.Good! And sin is? And grace is?
No. You can refuse to accept the new covenant, but you can't break it. The new covenant is unilateral. The previous covenant is by-lateral allowing you to break it.Jeremiah says a new covenant, not like Sinai WHICH WE BROKE, even though He was a husband to us...we cheated on Him. It will be one which we will not break because it will be in our hearts now and Yeshua will be the mediator. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts". Paul says "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
Ditto for me. Paul said in verse 6 But we're now delivered from the law...So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.
Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means.
For in my inner being I delight in God’s law...
