To the OP, I do not think Donald Trump represents my Christian faith, and I don't understand those that do.
Christians generally view Trump as an advocate for godly principles, but his character often distracts Christians from recongnising that he is probably the most pro-gospel president in recent times.
If that is what American's think a pro Gospel president should look like, than God help the US.
I wouldn't call him "Pro Gospel" at all. But you critics are even more laughable than he is. If you wanted to worry about the US, you're a bit late. What about a half a million children dead in Iraq from Bush I and Clinton's sanctions? Or the million dead from Bush II's war? What about the mishandling of the "Arab Spring" which led to hundreds of thousands dead as well? What about the slave markets in Libya right as we speak? Or the millions of exiles from these conflicts? What about the entire Cold War, CIA drug trade, or pedophile rings catering to the elites in all of our countries (i.e. Epstein and friends)? There's so much more to lose your mind over about the US than some blowhard who makes rude Tweets. He hasn't started any new wars, but for some reason, he's Orange Hitler. He didn't create the virus - China did - but for some reason, the Orange man is Patient Zero.
So yeah.. "Pro Gospel" is vastly overdoing it. But at the same time, you all are overplaying your hand by making him out to be so despicable. No human being is as bad as this. You're taking it to movie monster or comic book villain levels of evil. It's just neverending. The guy is on constant blast 24/7 and accused of being the worst human being in every possible way. Every day there is a new outrage. And I'm not even sure if any of you are sincere at all. I never heard this amount of outrage even at Dick Cheney. There's something very suspect when Trump is more evil than Cheney.
And I've said this before and I'll say it again: I didn't even vote for him. But this level of hatred has made me reconsider everything about him. This madness has backfired in my case.
The man is an womanizing racist, let alone all the other things that he has said or done.
My American friend with Mito spends $700 per month on needed medication because there is no help or coverage for them. It’s a debilitating and potentially fatal disease, it isn't make-up, her family needs those items.
I don't know what Dick Cheney has said or done to react.
Does anyone realize how catastrophic Clinton would have been? Her husband was seen on pedophile island, Epstein's death as a "suicide" is a travesty of justice. If she was president what kind of scandal would be rocking the scandal rags right now?If that is what American's think a pro Gospel president should look like, than God help the US.
Excellent post, excellent points. And I've said this before and I'll say it again: I didn't even vote for him. But this level of hatred has made me reconsider everything about him. This madness has backfired in my case.
True and you are echoing what all the Christians who voted for him said. They didn't vote for him because he was good, rather they voted for him because the option was Hillary Clinton. Do you really want the face of the country right now, in the midst of this pandemic, to have her husband on the front page of the news for visiting pedophile island? Do you really think having that scandal compete with Epstein's "suicide" while in custody under suicide watch for space on the Scandal rags, do you really think that would be a better face for America? The man is an womanizing racist, let alone all the other things that he has said or done. If he was some nobody it wouldn't matter as much but he's the president of your country. He is the public face of what your country stands for. Just because there are worse people around does not make him good.
I support medicaid for all, I support socialized medicine. But Bernie wasn't an option, Hillary Clinton made sure of that. Trump was not elected by Christians over Bernie, getting rid of Bernie was a decision that the Democrats made, primarily a decision made by Clinton and the Democratic party. If it was only rude Tweets while he made sensible solid decisions that helped the country economically and in education and health I am sure a lot more of his failing would be overlooked.
My American friend with Mito spends $700 per month on needed medication because there is no help or coverage for them. It’s a debilitating and potentially fatal disease, it isn't make-up, her family needs those items.
Orchestrated an invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan to secure oil and a gas pipeline. Made sure we didn't catch Osama during their administration. Very strong suspicion supported by a tremendous amount of evidence that he orchestrated 9/11.I don't know what Dick Cheney has said or done to react.
John Wayne would call you yellow. So if we say anything against the man that is extreme hatred?
If I was American I would be voting independent while trying very hard to emigrate and not just because of Trump.
No, when Christians claim to stand for certain beliefs, values, and principles then virtually swear unfettered loyalty to one who represents the opposite of those ... then it would seem clear that those standards are built on sand. Essentially as long I agree with a person's policies, in this case quite debatable, than my Christian beliefs can be set aside...
Hi jermayn,
Just wanted to respond quickly to a post that you made:
Yes, but hopefully you realize that that's a two-edged sword. The same thing applies to what one believes about any candidate.
I honestly don't think that anyone votes on who they believe has 'never' sinned. That isn't even an issue with most voters for the very reason that you claim. There are no candidates, or even people who can be candidates, that have never sinned. So, I believe that you're changing the terms of the discussion here because, as I say, no one votes for who they believe has never sinned.
Or, he could be like most of us when we came to love the Lord. Understand from what he reads here what depth of sin he holds in his soul...and repent and be saved. I know that when I trusted Jesus, it was because I realized my sin and my need for a Savior. That because I was a sinner, I couldn't save myself. I think it is because of the realization of our sin that we seek salvation. After all, if I'm a good fellow, what need have I of Jesus? I'm going to receive God's mercy anyway.
Listening to Mr. Trump's words concerning the partaking of communion, I really don't think he has any grasp whatsoever that he's a sinner. Here are just a couple of blurbs that would indicate to me that all his talk about wooing the evangelical base because he tries to show that he's one of them:
At the nondenominational First Christian Church, in Council Bluffs, Mr Trump reportedly mistook the silver Communion plates that were passed around as the offering plates and dug out some dollar bills from his pocket. “I thought it was for offering,” he told his staff members, according to the Associated Press. He later placed some notes in the offering plate, or offertory.
"People are so shocked when they find … out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church,” he said.
Moderator Frank Luntz asked Trump whether he has ever asked God for forgiveness for his actions.
“I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don’t think so,” he said. “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.”
Trump said that while he hasn’t asked God for forgiveness, he does participate in Holy Communion.
“When I drink my little wine — which is about the only wine I drink — and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed,” he said. “I think in terms of ‘let’s go on and let’s make it right.'”
Now seriously, how many born again believers do you know that don't know if they've ever asked God for forgiveness? He, in fact, goes on to say that he didn't think so. He says, “I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don’t bring God into that picture. I don’t.”
He doesn't bring God into it. Really? Sounds like a lot of born again believers that you know? And for him it isn't 'sin', it's that he did something wrong. Like he put tab A into tab C instead of tab B. Just made a mistake. Did something wrong. He tries better next time to make sure that he puts tab A into tab B.
God bless,
Ted

He's a rapscallion who too many Christians think is the new Cyrus sent from God to save America. Wrap the cross in a flag and this is the result.
Your first mistake is to assume supporting the President means we've sworn unfettered loyalty to him. I'm not sure why people on the left seem to think our only options are to either absolutely despise Trump or worship him like he's God. Second, I've already stated that I vote for the candidate who's policies I feel are most in line with God's word, so how am I setting my Christian beliefs aside?
If no one votes on who they think has never sinned, then why are there so many people using Trump's past sin to make a case against voting for him?
They very harshly call out his sin in a way that show's their utter disdain for Trump and anyone that supports him.
There's no mention of how to be forgiven of said sins. As I said, just sins thrown in the face of a sinner.
I don't. I believe he's got leadership issues since he can't hold an administration together, he's basically been our troll-in-chief for the last four years. But that did pay off with Iran. And he's not as bad as I thought he would be when he was elected. And he's been better than the Democrats on some very important issues this last term. Unfortunately, that's not saying a whole lot, and unfortunately we're either getting more of him or an enemy of freedom as our next President. But do honestly most you believe he will save America and he is choosen one?
I don't believe the Illuminati exist, but if they did, I think it's plausible that he would be one of their puppets.or he is just with Illuminati and pretend to be with the people.
I'm pretty sure that "puppet regimes" are much more careful about what they say, making sure they only speak what the puppeteer agrees with. I cannot believe any illuminati could control what Trump says.I don't believe the Illuminati exist, but if they did, I think it's plausible that he would be one of their puppets.
I don't believe they are real, but if they were real, it would make complete sense that they would want you to think that.I'm pretty sure that "puppet regimes" are much more careful about what they say, making sure they only speak what the puppeteer agrees with. I cannot believe any illuminati could control what Trump says.
With logic like that everything points to the illuminati.I don't believe they are real, but if they were real, it would make complete sense that they would want you to think that.
