Yes, I saw on your first (I think) post that Sullivan could be returned to his foster mom (that is a GOOD rescue mom!) :) for a happy home. We will pray for Sullivan too !!!

So a Chinese Crested it will be then. I wouldn't worry about a Chinese Crested dog getting ugly when they get older --me too-- but I'm still quite loveable

I would love to see pictures!

The picture of the Crested my friend sent to me is just a BEAUTIFUL dog!!! He's white (pink they call it) with black spots! And the hair that he does have, is white! As I'm sure you read, the hairless Crested's only have hair on their head, tail and feet! How cute!!! I want either a hairless or a powderpuff! Either are good with me! As long as it's a cuddler!!! :D  I'm no allowed to send URL's... so I'm not sure how I would get the picture to you... I don't have *nearly* enough blessings! *lol* I have to get to posting! ;) Anywho GOD Bless!!! :D

I am *keeping* Sullivan for sure!!! He is just too sweet of a doggie! And my plans are to get a Yorkshire Terrier (which they LOVE to be held) and they are tiny enough to take care of along with Sullivan! Plus, I know they have some energy, and Sullivan and the Yorkie could play and get their energy out! Anywho ~ that is just an update! GOD Bless! :prayer:

ShetlandRose ~ I'll definitely try to get pics of all of my puppers!! I will only have 2 of them (Sullivan and then the Yorkie), and I still have to run the Yorkie idea by my mom (as I'm living with her)! :D I don't think I am allowed to post pics yet... I don't have enough blessings! Is that a picture of your doggie?

Cammie ~ Thank you for that idea to go on yahoo!!! I actually just joined a yahoo yorkie group! I was talking with one of the breeders about the Yorkie's, and she invited me to join her Yorkie group!!

You know, most all breeders are asking $700-1,000+ for a Yorkie pup!! I think I'm going to ask around the breeders I have been talking to, to see if they will maybe sell me one of their older Yorkie's for cheaper! ;) :D Anywho ~ If anyone knows where I can get a Yorkie for cheaper, please let me know! Thanks! GOD Bless!! :prayer:

Ok, I've looked at the pictures of the Chinese cresteds at the link you posted on the other thread, and I think they'll come back to me in nightmares  (especially those hairless ones). I guess if you like the look, that's fine, but why on earth did anybody intentionally create this breed, with it's built-in problems?

I mean, people go to a lot of trouble now to make sure that if they buy retrievers or whatever, that they're bred carefully so that they don't get hip dysplasia (sp?) or any of the other genetic defects that come from inbreeding. But then you have this breed of dog, and it's like some mad scientist was trying to win a contest for the most freakishly genetically maladjusted dog in the world.

That being said, love for your dog isn't necessarily a logical thing, so if you want the dog (CC or Yorkie), and it'll make you happy, go for it. I'm sure you'll take good care of it. Happy cuddling.:)

Dear sowellfan: :) Guess you'll have to ask the Asians of before the 1600's, at least that is when the Mexican Hairless breed, very much like the Chinese Crested, surfaced in the New World brought by traders. To answer your second question, I can only say ... Humans have a fascination with the unique, and when a mutation arrived, they thought it was "cool."

I think they are adorable!

I definitely think they are adorable too! And everyone is definitely entitled to their own opinion! :D

Shetlandrose ~ Yes, my mom does have a Dachshund, altho, I thought you were talking about my dogs (that I actually own) not my parents. :) So yes, it would be 3 dogs in the house! ;)

Anywho ~ My brother dropped his long haired Dachshund off over at the house on Thursday night, and she has kept me up both nights!  She woke me up this morning at 7:00am! Along with the other times last night! *blah* lol ~ Thanks for all of the comments! Talk later! GOD Bless

Keep Sullivan. I agree with your mom, you are not being fair to the dog.

To be totally honest, you talk as if it's a child, not an animal. Her purpose was not to be fair to the dog, it was to find the perfect dog to suit her lifestyle.

Unless a dog has serious behavioral problems which would put you in danger, there is never a reason to return a dog.
----------------
You do know what happens to most unwanted mix-breed dogs...they are killed.

Here, you made it sound as if she wants to have sex with someone she's just met, with the possibility that she might get pregnant, and the guy she wants to have it with has cerebral palsy, which gives the baby a strong chance of having it.
There IS a reason to return a dog: She isn't happy with him. And maybe she doesn't even have to return it. She can always put an advertisement in the paper: "Dog to loving home..."

You've adopted this puppy, he is a member of your family now, not an article of clothing to return to a store because he doesn't "fit".

He may not be a tank top, but he doesn't "fit" with her lifestyle, and the dog would obviously be better off with someone who is as active as he is.

I am, in NO way, trying to be offensive. I'm just stating my opinion. No hard feelings! :)

actress4Him ~ Well, thank you for the comments! I appreciate them all! I have decided to KEEP Sullivan! I love him WAY too much to give him away! He is actually calming down a little bit, and I talked with the foster mom and she told me that once I get him fixed, that he'll calm down a lot. I am going to get him fixed very soon, and also, the other night, he came up to me in the middle of the night, and he started SNUGGLING WITH MEEEEE!! Isn't that awesome!!! ^_^ :pink: Anywho ~ I was thinking of getting another doggie so Sullivan has someone to play with while I'm gone, and also, another dog that is a MAJOR snuggler! Maybe Sullivan could learn from it, and then I could have TWO snugglers! Thank you for the comments!!! I appreciate it! Any more are very welcome!!

GOD Bless everyone! :prayer:

Bostons are great little dogs. However, may not be a good choice for many people since they are little hoovers and eat everything they can reach. They also tend to have respiratory problems because of their scrunched up noses, they snore, and they do pass gas that can clear a room. If someone could handle all that, I would say get one. They are such cute dogs and so friendly and pretty sturdy as well. However, I think in CountrieCurls situation, she needs to focus on the dog she has right now. I'm sorry, but you've bounced back and forth between getting rid of Sullivan, not getting rid of Sullivan, getting rid of him etc...Focus on your current dog before you go getting another one. If you're having a hard time handling one hyperactive puppy, getting a second one just doubles your work and probably would not be a good idea for you at the moment.

You know what? That is so true! Getting another dog is just going to double my work!! My dad and boyfriend have both been telling me to just focus on Sullivan, and I really believe that is what I need to do! Thank you for the comments, and thank you for being blunt about opinions. Sometimes people need that to "knock some sense" into their heads about what the real situation is. So thank you. One reason I was wanting another dog, besides the fact I want more of a cuddler, is because Sullivan doesn't have anyone to play with. My mom has a Dachshund, but she is older, therefor, she doesn't want to play with him. But I am definitely going to take your advice, and focus on Sullivan.

And with that, I'm going to say: I am getting Sullivan and myself into pet training classes!! Also, I am going to start working out with him (running for 30 mins per day), because I am starting a new work out plan which requires me to do some cardio, plus, walking/running helps keep you very healthy through out life! But that will help to get some of his energy out! Also, the foster mom of Sullivan suggested that I exercise him 30 mins two times per day!! But I have other places to take Sullivan so he can run around for a long time (i.e. My dad's house with his puppy). Anywho ~ I want to know what I can do to help get Sullivan's energy out?? Any suggestions??? Thank you for all of the comments!!! Maybe later in life will I get another dog to be a companion for Sullivan, but for now, my search is done. :D

GOD Bless!! :prayer:

Thank you so much for taking my advice well. I'm glad you're looking at this sensibly. Puppy training classes are a great idea! I'm sure Sullivan will love them and take to them really well. Do you have a fenced in backyard? If so, take him out there and just throw a ball around. You don't have to do 30 mins of exercise all at once. He'll probably have spurts of energy so that's the best time to take him out. Also, get a Kong. It's a wonderful toy you can get at Petsmart that you can fill with treats and such. Penut butter works great. Dogs go nuts over trying to get the goodies inside and that can keep them entertained for quite a while and work out some excess energy. Walking with your dog would be a great idea as well. As a puppy, he probably won't be able to handle long walks until he gets a little older, but shorter 30min walks shouldn't be a problem for him. All in all, sounds like you're on the right track! Good luck with Sullivan and let us know how things are going!

I like to consider myself a pretty open-minded person... At least I try to be on most things! :D But some things, I have my mind made up, and there is no way I'll change! But those things, I have very strong feelings on, and have felt those feelings for a L-O-N-G time! Well, as of now, I cannot seem to get ahold of Sullivan's foster mom... But she said she could get me into free PetsMart pet training classes!! (And for all of the college students out there ~~> Anything *free* is awesome, and we'll grab at the chance!) Anywho ~ I start my work out/exercise plan tomorrow! (Woohoo ^_^ ) So I'll be taking Sullivan with me on my walk/jog (I gotta start out walking/jogging, otherwise I'll wear myself out, and I won't want to work out anymore! ~~ Gotta build yourself up for these things ;) )

Yes, I do have a fenced in back yard, but Sullivan stays near by! So that wouldn't be a problem worrying about him running off! Plus, I think I mentioned earlier, my dad has a Beagle/Lab mix puppy, so I can always take Sullivan over there, and play with both of the dogs, throwing a ball, or stick! Actually, sometimes I'll put Sullivan up in the back yard and he'll go run around, dodging trees, and barking at the other dog in the yard up behind our house (a HUGE black lab  )!!!

Any more comments are VERY welcome!!! GOD Bless!! :prayer:

Okay, looks like you've already made up your mind what to do, but if you hadn't, I was going to suggest a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They're about a foot tall when full grown, fairly mellow, although they DO appreciate their excersise! :) They're also very dependent, cuddly, and need to be around people. The only downside is that they tend to cost anywhere from $1500 to $2000 from a breeder. That's pricey, even for a purebred.
INcidentally, should you ever plan on getting ANY kind of purebred in the future, I wouldn't plan on finding a quality one for $200 or less. Most good purebreds, or even average purebreds that have been raised in healthy environments, start around $700.
