I'll start...

1. Pool of Radiance on Commodore 64, amazing RPG for its time.
2. Deus Ex, best FPS story ever. Really makes you think. Entertaining combat too.
3. Rome Total War. Epic empire builder.
4. Baldur's Gate and the sequel. Took RPG to a new level in computer gaming.
5. Mass Effect and the sequel. Outstanding space RPG.
6. Fallout original. Post apocalyptic RPG. Great story. Good game mechanics for its time.
7. Dragon Age and followup content. Good solid modern RPG.
8. Fallout 3 and Morrowind. Tied for nonlinear huge games. Too big compared to its depth. Problem is its not deep enough in story to have world respond accurately to character's actions, lacks holisitc immersion. Choice between killing things and completing quests gets lame after awhile. Needs BG2-like relationships between characters to make the game whole.
9. Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. Combat flight simulator. Older but good for its time.
10. Fallout 2, another solid older RPG.

I'm limited to just 10? LOL

Okay in no particular order of preference

Ghostbusters the video game...great story great script from the guys the wrote the original film and voiced by the original actors. Have you never wanted to be a Ghostbuster?
"I calculate 54 possible outcomes only 3 of which we would be likely to survive!"
"Well thats 2 more than we normally get ...lets do it!"

Mass effect and sequel...a great game especially as you can link the two together so the story continues

Oblivion elder scrolls...its so big!

Half life Orange box...5 games in one...Portal has to be played to be believed.
"The enrichment centre would like to remind you that Android hell is a real place to which you will be sent at the first sign of disobedience"

Bioshock what a great original game!

Fall out 3 best of the series in my view though some of the add ons are a bit dubious!

Fighting fantasy 7 - beats the others hands down, ok so graphics are a bit out dated but still a great play.

Lego star wars the complete saga...come on have you never wanted to be a jedi. Good fun and light.

Lego indianna jones 2 (with the crystal skull) ...for the same reasons as above.

Doom/Doom 2/ultimate doom....oldie but still a goodie

In no real order:

Ultima Online - Before EA destroyed it
Police Quest - 1-4
Kings Quest - Amazing stories
Space Quest - Monolith Burger FTW
Postal Series- Disturbingly Fun
Dragon Age Origins - One of the best stories in an RPG I've seen
Elder Scrolls Series - very well done overall, always room for improvement
Fable - Another fantastic RPG
Warcraft 1 & 2 - So many hours spent in this game
Ultima - One of the best RPG series ever made
GTA Series - Fun sandbox world with no rules

1 - World of Warcraft (I currently have 6 level 80s if that says anything about me)
2 - Portal (The cake is a lie!)
3 - Motor City Online (I almost cried when this went away... MMO muscle car racing: best idea for me ever!)
4 - Echelon (Fly around a 3d wire-frame world in a hover ship, collecting alien artifacts, defending yourself against alien pogo-ball-shaped UFOs -- very high tech for a C64 game)
5 - Aces High (Free to play, WWII combat flight simulator)
6 - Mechwarrior 2 (I used to play this over and over back in the late 90's)
7 - Grand Theft Auto (any, pretty much)
8 - Test Drive (I racked up thousands of miles on the C64 version of the original)
9 - Road & Track: Need for Speed (another PC favorite of the 90's)
10 - Warhammer 40,000 - Dark Millenium (it's still in development, but I can tell I have a good chance of liking it)

Oh, and I know this makes 11, but I'm thinking Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic might be good when it's released spring 2011.

Eek, only 10!

1. Final Fantasy VII. (I don't need to say anymore.)
2. Metal Gear Solid. (Sure, it's short, but come on, the gameplay is great!)
3. The GTA series. (Just alot of fun!)
4. Final Fantasy VIII. (Awesome storytelling, even if it is a little hard to follow.)
5. Oblivion. (Still fascinating, just wandering around Tamriel!)
6. Timesplitters 2. (Played the multiplayer non-stop for about 2 years!)
7. Resident Evil 2. (My favourite of the series, hands down.)
8. Earthworm Jim 1 & 2. (Groovy!)
9. Mass Effect 1 & 2. (Brilliant sci-fi action RPG!)
10. Sonic 3 & Knuckles. (Classic.)

Feel free to move all these around, as I really can't put them in a specific order, with the exception of FFVII, which really does earn it's top spot. :D

I knew I forgot something on my list... Probably the best and most popular FF game ever!

I remember spending a whole weekend doing nothing but playing that game, I didn't eat anything except one Pot Noodle, and left the room only to go to the loo. Hah. Good times! Then I had to go back to school on the monday. :( Bloody reality, cutting into my gameplaying time! :p

Don't really have any favorites outside of MMORPGs so I'll chuck those in there too.

King's Quest games --which got me into hopping over to the Sierra Online chatrooms & then eventually into The Realm Online in '96.

Disciples II - LOVE the dark, gothic atmosphere of this game

Warcraft 2 & 3 which lead to WoW eventually (Yay Illidan! Blizz should've redeemed him. So much potential there... /fangirl)

Civilization series.

The Sims! Wee! Still can't get enough due to all the custom content that's out there. Same for Second Life (avoiding the perverts can be incredibly hard. Not suggested for anyone really anymore as it's hard to police.)

Sim City & variants. Need MOAR!!! =)

Nexus: tK --spent 8 years at this game before moving to WoW. Had such cute 2D characters & was really good at giving me carpal tunnel for a bit there. Still have a few friends left over from that time.

Silkroad Online - Played this before getting into WoW --pretty much jumped from being an archer there to a hunter in WoW. /flex

I do remember that durned Chuck Yeager flight sim from way back. That thing was evil XD Also played Silpheed around that time too. Dad loved flight sims & space games so that's all we had lying around in the early days. heh... Clowns & Balloons too on the old Tandy PC. I think dad finally hid that from my sister & I. I think we about drove him mad playing that all the time.

10. Call of Duty
9. Railroad Tycoon
8. King's Quest (I think I liked the third one the best, but it's been a while.)
7. Master of Orion
6. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
5. Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle
4. Wasteland
3. The Bard's Tale
2. Syndicate
1. X-Com: UFO Defense

Most of these go pretty far back, but I still remember how they swallowed up hours of my time without me even realizing it. Maniac Mansion didn't take that much time, but it was probably the game that made me the laugh the most. X-Com was an easy decision for number one.

1. Master of Magic. Best game ever, period.
2. Civilization II and expansions (especially the Master of Magic expansion!)
3. Baldur's Gate II. This one really did change the world of computer gaming forever.
4. Might & Magic 6 & 7. Great story, addictive game play, cool magic system.
5. Dragon Age: Origins. This really is the successor to Baldur's Gate. I hope they don't change too much with the DA2 game.
6. Oblivion.
7. Morrowind.
8. The rest of the Infinity Engine Games (BG1, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, etc)
9. Might & Magic 4 & 5 (Xeen and Darkside of Xeen, that combined to give you new areas and quests).
10. Populous.

1. Deus Ex
2. System Shock 2
3. Fallout
4. Half-Life 2
5. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
6. Command & Conquer
7. Civilisation 2
8. Sonic 2 (Although to be honest, I should probably just stick with the PC theme here and replace it with COMMANDER KEEN)
9. DEFCON
10. Serious Sam

To be honest, I've probably neglected to mention something obvious, very hard to stick to just 10!

heroes of might and magic 3
(wake of the gods mod makes this game rock)
empire deluxe
