@BPPLEE who asked me if I knew anyone who was transgender or gay when I was growing up. I didn't, because anyone who was would have been too frightened to let it be known. They'd be scared of the mockery, the cruel barbs. And the violence. And why all that? Because me and the rest of my peers were ignorant. It wasn't a matter for discussion in polite company.
Normal people didn't discuss them. Because they were
abnormal.
But now we teach tolerance, not intolerance. We teach kindness, not cruelty. We teach acceptance, not rejection. And those we rejected from society are now part of a better society. But you? You want to go back a couple of generations. Let's keep it quiet. Our children don't need to know about...this kind of person. We need to keep it from them. We need to keep them ignorant.
