Likewise. And remember we had a short discussion about the fact that people tend to say exactly what they mean in the anonymity of the forum?Personally not any but I’ve seen it on the forums.
There was nothing to make excuses about. It was satire, which you didn't get. And the rest of the video was a hoax, which no-one bothered to check. And most people believed it because they wanted it to be true. Not much objectivity there. No need to think about it. No need for a reasonable discussion. All that's required is a knee jerk reaction. Shoot from the lip. Bring out a few standard complaints and stoke up some righteous indignation. We should be worried about the people making excuses for it
I think I’ve said enough about this until something new comes up.There was nothing to make excuses about. It was satire, which you didn't get. That's the worry.
There is nothing to disagree about there except the bit about 'cancelling' and 'woke culture'. I can never really be sure what is meant by these expressions. Maybe it is because they are Americanisms which I have not much encountered here in the UK. They seem to mean whatever the user wants them to mean. I have moaned about this before. In this country you are entitled to three thing, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I would never want to interfere in someone’s pursuit of happiness. I support letting people pursue whatever it is that brings them happiness as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else. People are free to be LGBTQ and it shouldn’t matter when it comes to their jobs and the basic freedoms that we all enjoy.
But I’m not in favor of teaching kids that are too young about gender identity and sexual orientation. I think that can wait until middle school, at least the 7th grade.
And while everyone is free to be what they want to be, I have a right to disagree. There seems to be a movement to take away the right to disagree. People are cancelled for expressing a point of view that doesn’t align with the woke culture. But freedom of speech means freedom to speak your mind and that includes things that others may find offensive and vehemently disagree with. There is no such thing as the right to not be offended.

The point about what teachers can teach and what is age appropriate is a long way from the earlier assertion that parents have sole responsibility for what is taught in the field of personal development education.
That is the position, more or less, in the UK. It is not without its problems but is generally accepted. A few parents object to sex education in some parts of the curriculum, some of any kind. I think the right to insist on ignorance is stupid, but it is a right. Parents have a right to be stupid, I suppose, but there is a real issue here; children have a right not to be kept in ignorance.I think parents have a right to know what is being taught. If they’re going to teach these subjects to younger students the parents should have the option to opt out. That way both sides can get what they want. It’s a reasonable compromise.
They don’t have to be ignorant. Some parents may feel they are better equipped to educate their children on these matters than the school. That is the position, more or less, in the UK. Um, that is not w hat the show was about. They gave fashion advice. Try again. It's not all a lie. Have you ever heard of queer eye for the straight guy. There's a whole series about gays going after the innocent:'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's OG Fab Five: Where Are They Now?. The blind that shall not see. How do you expect to fight for Jesus if you don't know the facts. I've known at least two sets of gays, men and women both recruiting
True, some parents do. The difficulty there is that even though they believe they know best, some parents simply don't. I have known parents with very odd ideas about sex education. They don’t have to be ignorant. Some parents may feel they are better equipped to educate their children on these matters than the school.
Some parents don’t agree with what “qualified” people are teaching and don’t want their children sexuallized in grade schoolTrue, some parents do. Some parents actually believe that children should know nothing about sex at all until they have 'grown up' - I have met some who held that view.
Should their opinion be paramount? I have no doubt heir children found out anyway, but from sources beyond the parents' control such as playground misunderstandings and inappropriate contentography. Far better to have proper informed education from qualified people.
Of course educators ought to be qualified, not "qualified". I am not advocating for unqualified staff to deal with this sensitive area. Proper, age-appropriate teaching is not 'sexualising' children, but equipping them for life. What qualifications have parents that make them automatically superior sources of understanding? Some parents don’t agree with what “qualified” people are teaching and don’t want their children sexuallized in grade school

Of course parents have a responsibility for their children, but that is not the same as having a veto on their education. I think the vast majority of parents understand that they are not necessarily the best qualified people to instruct their children in this area. It is a posture hardly ever struck in other curriculum areas (outside of sectarian religious instruction - illegal in America but not here in UK).
Why is sex education such a minefield for some adults? My view is that many of them received little or none in their own childhood - the consequence of that same attitude. It is so often the confusion of ignorance for innocence.
That just seems a little paranoid. I don't know anybody who supports indoctrination. I support a liberal education for all children. Parents should be informed and giving consent - or withdrawing their children when they object to specific parts of the curriculum.Maybe some people don’t agree with what the experts are teaching and opposing an option to opt out sounds suspiciously like supporting indoctrination and not education
Parents are free to teach their values to their children. The government doesn’t have more rights to children than their own parents. That just seems a little paranoid. Parents too might indoctrinate their children. That would be wrong too. Children need to be protected from indoctrination wherever it comes from.
You know what. I don't believe you. Or them. They created the song those marchers said those words. It's not irony. It's the truth. And it's obvious with the books they are reading to kids. With the content in children's programming. With the content in school education, the gender unicorn or gingerbread guy. LGBTQ and Trans flags hanging in Government buildings, schools and on flagpoles next to the American flag. They are having pride school assemblies. They want visible support in school clubs, Gay/Straight Alliance, Sexuality Alliance in schools. We've got transgenders taking their shirts off and dancing on the Whitehouse lawn showing off their new breast implants or real breasts. And from the Daily Mail, which is about as far right wing as you can get: The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus receive death threats for song
'Then the song goes all in on the satire, as the singer sarcastically sings 'We'll convert your children, happens bit by bit, quietly and subtly, and you will barely notice it'
'You can keep them from disco, warn about San Francisco, make 'em wear pleated pants, we don't care, we'll convert your children, we'll make them tolerant and fair,' he continues.
The video was mostly well received but San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus said they'd had some furious backlash from a some conservatives who appeared to MISS THE IRONY in the lyrics.
'They have taken the lyrics out of context to support a narrative that suits their intolerant and hateful needs,' a statement from the chorus said. 'It is obvious the tongue-in-cheek humor is lost on many.'
Funny just this once you're correctYou think we're sinful
You fight against our rights
You say we all lead live you can't respect
But you're just frightened
You think that we'll corrupt your kids
If our agenda goes unchecked
Funny, just this once, you're correct
We'll convert your children
Happens bit by bit
Quietly and subtlety
And you will barely notice it
You can keep them from disco
Warn about San Francisco
Make 'em wear pleated pants
We don't care...
We'll convert your children...
We'll make them tolerant and fair
Just like you worriеd
They'll change their group of friеnds
You won't approve of where they go at night
(to protests)
Oh, and you'll be disgusted
(so gross)
When they start finding things online
That you've kept far from their sight
(like information...)
Guess what?
You'll still be alright!
We'll convert your children
Reaching one and all
There's really no escaping it
'cause even grandma likes Rupaul
And the world's getting kinder
Gen Z's gayer than Grindr
Learn to love
Learn to vogue
Face your fate!
We'll convert your children
Someone's gotta teach them not to hate
We're coming for them
We're coming for your children
We're coming for them
We're coming for them
We're coming for your children
For your children
You're children will care about
Fairness and justice for others
Your children will work to convert
All their sisters and brothers
Then, soon, we're almost certain
You're kids will start convertin' you!
The gay agenda is coming home
The gay agenda is here!
But you don't have to worry
'cause there's nothing wrong with
Standing by our side
Get on board in a hurry
Because the world always needs
A bit more pride
But you don't have to worry
'cause there's nothing wrong with
Standing by our side
(The Gay Agenda)
Get on board in a hurry
Because the world always needs
A bit more pride
(The Gay Agenda)
Come on, try a little pride!
We'll convert your children
Then we'll turn to you
Giving up the fear inside
Is freeing like you never knew!
Go and see San Francisco!
Go and turn up that disco!
You'll forget you were ever upset
We'll convert your children
And make an ally of you yet!
We'll make an ally of you yet!
We'll make an ally of you yet!
So now you admit it's not satire? You admit exactly what they are doing? Try to convert the kids. You'll notice. No problem about that. They'll become more generous in their attitudes. They will become more open to change and to new ideas. They'll become less dogmatic. They'll become more caring. More loving. They'll become less likely to base their attitudes on what the conservative commentariat lie to them about. The horror, eh?
So you'll notice. Don't worry about that. We'll all notice.
No it's teaching kids to question their genders. Try out new genders. Try out their queerness. It not just about tolerance. As I've stated umpteen times you can teach kids not to be mean without the LGBTQ education, indoctrination and conversion. It's directed at those who think that teaching children about the differences in gender that they will experience as they grow and instilling into them that all people must be treated with respect is offensive.
No they are converting kids. And I taught my kids not to hate and to defend anyone that's being bullied. But I didn't have to teach them or convert them into LGBTQ ideology to do it. Don't be naive. No one is raising children on your behalf. They’re just teaching them the good manners you didn’t. If you don’t want them learning it from the gays, tech them yourself. If you don’t want them learning it at all, you’re a bad parent.
