I grew up in the NYC area. Just about every pizza joint was great.

But pepperoni, mushrooms and onions with the olive oil dripping off the edge. Yum. :)

I know what you mean, @Far Side Of the Moon. I haven't learned to embrace my curves, so I have to limit my pizza intake. :D

Talayna's was the go-to place in St. Louis 30 years ago. Maybe it still is. They had the whole deep dish thing way back then. But I'm not in St. Louis any more.

Now I like the thin crust wood fire pizzas that are simpler and more 'Italian' than the big thick layered American pizzas.

I can't really eat much pizza (as in one maybe two pieces in a month) which is no big loss for me because I was never a big fan anyway, but my friends who LOVE pizza recommend Uptown pizza in Chicago (don't know about the pizza but the rib tips? oh baby, they'll kill you for sure!) and my grandsons like this place: Monster Slice of Pizza Fries and Drink Lunch - Menu - Papa Ray's Pizza and Wings - Chicago but I've always gotten the impression it was about quantity over quality for him. :)
tulc(will say he likes pineapple on his pizza so take that as a warning) :sorry:

I would have to say, at the moment, that my favorite place to get pizza (when I do go out for it) would be Round Table, and my ideal toppings are pepperoni, olives, green peppers, and sometimes a little onion. Maybe even some mushrooms if they don't get soggy. I prefer a crust that's somewhat crispy.

It's also nice to make my own pizza, when possible. I made one the other night. It's kind of homemade and kind of not, as I admit I "cheated" by buying a Boboli thin crust (I don't have the skill of hand tossing my own), then added pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, olives, and imitation Italian sausage, cut into pieces (no, I'm not vegetarian; I've just cut down on eating a lot of meat these days and don't think I need it all the time, and despite the fact that I'm not by any means what you would call "slim"). Tasted pretty good... to me, anyway, as I cannot tell the difference in taste between real sausage and the fake sausage. I might try doing that more often! :)

Pizza studio is pretty good. You get a medium pizza for 9.50 but you can actually have one of each topping they offer with no extra charge. I had 3 kinds of cheese, one sampling of all the meats about 10-12 dif kinds, two kinds of tomatoes, spinach, pineapple, jalapenos and some other things I can't recall. It's a thin crust and ends up being a very heavy pizza.

Papa Murphy's is also really good IMO, just a bit pricey.

There are two local places that make great pizza but they don't exist anywhere else.
