• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I think I'm allergic to strawberries. I used to get bad outbreaks as a kid, but since then ive eaten strawberrie yougurt, and other products with small amounts of strawberries and not gotten sick, so I may not be allergic anymore. Im not really a big fan of strawberries, so Im not in a big hurry, but when Iget a few days off, ill eat a few and see what happens. Im also allergic to bees.

There is a chance that you have a problem with the fresh strawberries but not cooked. That is how my granddaughter's strawberry allergy started, now it is worse.
Even now my granddaughter can handle kids bringing cooked strawberries to school, but if any fresh juices get on a surface and she touches it her lips swell up.
I would be very careful about doing this on your own. Maybe have a liquid antihistamine on hand and someone who can call 911 in case it is needed.

I am HIGHLY allergic to bees. I was rushed to the hospital a couple years ago after getting stung by a hornet. Doc prescribed me not one, not two, not three even, but four epipens to keep on me at all times. He said he was afraid that I might not make it to the hospital next time, so the epipen will allow me about 20 minutes.

I'm allergic to milk and wheat! So can't really eat any normal food, lol. I'm allso allergic to some different trees and grass. But the worst thing is I can't eat normal pizza!

You are not alone. My granddaughter cannot have gluten, dairy or tomato.

We make her a homemade pizza using an alternate flour and spreading a sauce made from lentils and mushrooms on top. We have to buy gluten free meats to top the pizza as well.

-Dogs and cats (Still own my cat - the allergist said it was OK)
-Pollen from May to October
-Dust (any type of dust in the air)
-Cigarette smoke (anything with particles that can be thrown in the air)
-I seem to be allergic to tree leaves, I don't know...

Those allergies are just getting worse. :sigh: I keep blowing my nose all the time and emptying kleenex boxes. I sneeze, get watery eyes, blow my nose. It's unbearable... Now I'm getting eczema, urticaria... what else... :help:

My immune system is weakening itself... I think I should go completely bio...

Actually your immune system is too good. Kind of over exuberant about fighting off potential enemies to your body.

I know every time I get a cold or flu virus my immune system goes into overdrive and I break out in hives. Thankfully it is only once or twice a year.

Hmmmm, if my immune system was too good, I wouldn't suffer from allergies and eczema/urticaria rashes, no?

No!
What you (and I) are suffering is a dysfunctional immune system, but not a weak immune system. In fact our immune system is so strong and zealous that it is attacking the normal tissues of our body and causing hives and/or eczema as a result.

Really? I thought otherwise.... Well, I've always heard that allergies are related to a weak immune system ... Didn't study that in depth though, ah well. We learn something every day.

Do you know how we can make our immune system function normally, then?

Do you have any websites with info on that? Now I'm really curious to know... (I know I can search myself but if you have any websites you find truly informative, can you link them here?)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BY THE WAY! :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

If only I knew how to end this misery. One allergist says it is all in my head. Another wanted me to drive into the city to see him during an outbreak. Depending on the severity, I avoid driving.

Right now I am in a clear period. No hives! No asthma! No rashes!

By Love, Faith and His stripes we are healed! :)

I have been healed of my soul sickness, but I, like Paul need a "thorn" to keep me humble. To keep me looking to Christ.

How pitiful it would be for me to just go about my life and not have to depend on Christ for my very breath. What would my use for living even be?

No, my allergies keep me in prayer for my very life. They keep my relying on a loving heavenly Father rather than just be-bopping through life.

I follow Christ for what he did for me, not for how easy my life could be. We are not promised the taking away of burdens, we are promised that the burdens we have will be light.

I am also allergic to mozzie bites. I have one on my leg now that has swollen to the size of a cricket ball, or slightly bigger. It is itchy and horribile. I have to put numbing and anti-inflammatory cream on it. :(
I used to have that problem. As I got older and tougher, they started leaving me alone.
