Yeah, I don't know if Martin has won an Oscar yet or not. But if he hasn't then they just need to give him one out of pity. Lol

He better have. Goodfellas is one of the best films of all time. He made a movie called Silence about Christian missionaries a few years ago, that was quit good too.

I preferred "The Departed".

Saw that movie once.. seemed like a watch it once.. never again kind of film. Lol.
True. Same with Michael Douglas' movies such as 'The Game' & "A Perfect Murder". Some of the greatest works of cinema of all time but the replay value on them are low. Again, IMO.

Yeah. I liked the Departed. Although to be fair, Silence is probably more of a one watch too, lol.

Never see n those films you mentioned, but I do love Michael Douglass as an actor. Will have to check those out.

Cool. I'll check back with you in the future to see what you thought of them.

Being October, it is a good excuse to watch some spooky movies. Last weekend, I watched the Netfl*x series Haunting of Bly Manor. My dissatisfaction over that series caused me to long for 1961's The Innocents, which I watched last night.

Black and white is used to great effect, and the scenic rural setting with mansion, lake, and statue garden all combine to give some memorable images. Deborah Kerr carries the story with her nervous energy as Miss Giddens, and there are a few scenes that are actually quite chilling. It is really a good little film and even though the ghosts are real, I appreciate how the film was crafted to allow several interpretations, each one able to stand on its own.

I'm hoping to watch either The VVitch or A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night next.

My sister is staying with me for a while, and we ended up watching Nosferatu. It's a good movie, but my goodness, Max Schreck is so comical!

We watched The VVitch last night. I kept pointing things out (the symbolic use of breasts/milk as transmitters of orthodoxy and the use of the biblical temptation narratives of Job and Christ, &c). After it ended, she admitted she didn't really understand the language of movies. It was interesting to me how the experience changes when watching a film with someone. Watching it last night was a more harrowing experience than I think it ever had been before. It was on my top five films when I first watched it and it's ensured its place on each subsequent viewing.
