Yeah. I liked the movie. Even though it seemed to start off as a comedy then just went full drama at the end.. lol.

Watching The Shining. Seen this film a lot of times before.. but it's been a while..

In the mood for a very atmospheric slow burn type of film tonight.

Despite what some people say.. I don't find this film very scary.. just cool.

I don't care what anybody says.. Shelly Duvall was pretty cute when she was younger.

Although I guess I'm a pretty big sucker for large neotenous eyes.. even if they look buggy.

I will say though.. she's a pretty bad actress.. at least in this film. I don't know why Stanley chose her. Behind the scenes he pretty much tortured her to try to get a better performance out of her. Cannot imagine what she would have given if he hadn't done that. Maybe that's why she turned out to be so crazy nowadays..? Lol.

I think the only ever movie I've really seen her in is Popeye.. probably the worst movie I have ever seen.

The moral of the movie.. don't try to take away the bat that's swinging from a hysterical woman.

That's all Stanley was trying to say.. none of this guilt about hoaxing the moon landing..

Wendy Torrance and her dumb son get a bunch of drama and hysterics when someone attempts to murder them.. but the vast majority of people who are attempted to be murdered or are straight out murdered. don't get that.. it just happens mundanely.. without all these crazy signs.. lol.

Continuing the Shining from last night..

Wow.. the only guy outright killed in this movie is a black guy. So many scenes are given to him driving to the hotel.. and Jack Nicholson just kills him with an axe......

Poor.. Shelly Duvall.. she has to see that man with that.. dog man..

Not sure what series to watch this week.. still sad that Rome ended.. Wish HBO didn't cut the show due to budgetary reasons.. if the show was made today.. there probably would have been no problem.

I know the creator wanted to go from the Julius/Cleopatra stuff.. on to Jesus and the rise of Christianity within the Roman empire. Would have liked to see that. Given that the show wrapped up the first stuff... I don't see why they couldn't do a revival of the show that takes place then. You don't have to worry about dealing with the ages of the actors.

I'd like a show involving Jesus that gave us more context for the time period, other historical people being in it beyond just what the Bible includes. But in this current climate it would probably be a mess.
