This is kind of an obscure read, I saw advertised in Biblical Archaeology Review, and subsequently bought an inexpensive one off eBay.. Author works to return/re-establish Christianity to it's earliest Jewish-Messianic roots. If anyone else has finished it, I'd be curious to hear their thoughts ?

Well-balanced personal & historical overview of a Border State's overwhelmed/fading Southern culture.

Knight with Armour by Alfred Duggan and The Flight of the Heron by DK Broster. The former is about the 11th century crusade from the point of view of a young, poor knight, while the latter is based on the Jacobite wars from the point of view of two officers from the opposing sides.

Both books have a romantic element, with the knight meeting and marrying the love of his life on the crusade and one of the two main characters in the other book marrying his sweetheart in the course of the story.

I'm not really a fan of this author (Sale), but thought I'd give this a read..
It's brief, (60 pages plus bibliography & reproduction of the Emancipation Proclamation).
So far, it's not really a moral evaluation of emancipation, it's a critical analysis of how Lincoln handled the process..

Yeah. The author is a big name in the science fiction and fantasy genre, which is why you've most likely heard of her. It's a very interesting take on what a society would be like if the whole gender/sex thing was mostly kept dormant.

Book is interesting so far; I'm about 40 pgs in.

Interesting subject matter to me, the integration fight in Farmville VA.. told by a Farmville native (born after the events chronicled).
The author takes a (hyper)critical evaluation of her White ancestors role/attitudes in the integration battle. I'm more in to the objective details of the story, than the author's personal feelings & connections, but that was part of her stated objective & it is a good read so far..
