What are the requirements to be a deacon and what is the role of a deacon?

I have been associated with the Assemblies of God for many decades. I have witnessed changes in some local assemblies in regard to the requirements of deacons and the role of deacons. It seems some of these decisions have been based solely on what seemed to be necessity alone. Where does the Assemblies stand or other Pentecostals on this today?

So then is a divorced man remarried the husband of one wife? Are women qualified as deacons? From Acts then Deacons are restricted to care of widows and the elderly to insure their basic needs? I cannot say that is the function I see in church.
