Well, for the last two years I was in my school's jazz ensemble and both of those years we opened for Maynard Ferguson. That probably means nothing to most of you unless you are trumpet players. Maynard Ferguson is the guy that did the soundtrack for Rocky....

Also with the jazz ensemble we played for the Alabama Bandmasters meeting last year which was very important because you don't want to mess up in front of all the top band people of your state.

And we played for Bob Riley, the governor of Alabama.

So, what have your biggest gigs been?

1997 National Beta Club convention, New Orleans, LA: First place, group talent competition

1998 National Beta Club convention, Nashville, TN: First place, group talent competition

There were around 3000-4000 people at both of these events. I was a guitarist in a popular music cover band run by my high school that competed and won talent competitions held by the National Beta Club academic honor society at the state level, then the national level both years. We played quite a few other large non-competitive gigs, but the ones mentioned above were the main goal of the band.

Very true, 72_Chev_Truck. He squeaks out a couple high notes, but the rest of the time he sits down now. He gives all of his solos away to people in his band. Not much to see anymore. He gasps for breath whenever he even talks....

I guess that's why Doc Severinsen is more popular now. Doc is in really good shape for his age. And he can still play well.

1. Opened two shows for Eddie Rabbit.

2. Played with a couple of the guys from the Hooters, Tommy Conwell and Robert Hazzard (the guy who wrote "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and had a hit with "Escalator of Life" back in the 80's) at my sister's wedding. That was pretty cool.

3. Played with Dudley Connell, Don Rigsby and the guy from IIIrd Tyme Out at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival (in the parking lot).

Drumed for Kathy Tracoli still do infact... hmmmm my biggest gig was not drumming that day but playing bongos for Kathy at the ''klty freedom concert'' in Dallas... I think the crowed number was anywhere from 100,000 to 150,000.

it would be hard to find anything as big as the Freedom Fest in Dallas. It is bigger than Woodstock 1 or 2! That must have been a real blast

Still...the best "gig" usually happens in my living room after midnight when it's just Him and me. Sweet!

I haven't done anything too big yet (I'm only 15) but my brother has played piano in all kinds of concerts, and he played solo on the Grand Ole Opry LIVE on the radio and TV back in November!! So that's like... everyone across America that listens to the Grand Ole Opry heard him! And (still not my experiences) my grandfather was a famous country pianist - he played in concerts and sessions with Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and many many many MANY more people I can't think of right now. Anyways, I've got some big gigs in my family, so I'm hoping the same luck will go for me! :)

so far the biggest gig I've done is back in school during the talent contest. Performed infront of maybe 300-400 people. Oh and for prizegiving as well, that would have been about 300-400 as well. Next year our band is preparing to play at a christian music festival in New Zealand called Parachute.

Who was your grandfather? My dad was a guitarist in the late 50's and early 60's who played on the "Big 'D' Jamboree" and backed up nearly every country and rock artist of that time. Maybe they played together?

Floyd Cramer, he was just recently inducted into the country music hall of fame and the rock and roll hall of fame in february, making him one of less than 10 people in the world who is honored in both. ;)

Really? That's pretty cool. I always liked him. My dad loved him but I don't know if they ever met. I still play "Last Date" on the piano.
