  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought the program lost some of its flair when Sam left. The chemistry between Sam, Toby, Josh and CJ was phenomenal. I'd like to see more of Josh. The way Sam, Josh, Toby & CJ can carry on one-word conversations is interesting. I like any program that grabs the ball and runs with it. I hate those programs that move slowly. This one seems to grab the viewer's attention and hold it.

I've grown to love the "ping-pong" style WW was. = ) It was really good this week with the new guy...what's-his-name.

Are you talking about the staffer that went to the Florida congressman's office ahead of Leo? I can't remember his name, but he's been recurring lately. I think that Will Bailey who replaced Sam Seaborn is a good character, but not of the mettle that Seaborn (Rob Lowe) possessed. I'm really hoping they stay off the campaign trail for a while, but I'd like to see a little more of Josh Lyman. His absentmindedness reminds me of myself ;) .

Yeah that's the guy I'm talking about. He's the one CJ hired I think. I really like Will Bailey! I wish they'd put him in more of an active role like when he was on Barlett's staff tho. He's a very smart character!

So who are you all "voting" for? If I was a Republican, I would go for Vinick. But I really like Santos. I even like Bob Russell too. They'd all make good "fake" Presidents. ; )

Walken (John Goodman) is running too. I liked it when he took over as President when Zoey was kidnapped.
Yeah, that was cool, but scary! I don't thing Walken will win tho. They haven't played him up much. I think Santos is the writers/producers favorite. But I could be wrong!

I'd have a hard time if I were living in the world of West Wing on the voting thing. I'd be torn between Santos and Vinick. I'm a little more conservative as a rule, but I get such a good vibe from somebody like Santos. I'd probably go with Santos. I guess most people vote the way the emotions take them :)
It probably wouldn't surprise me if Goodman gets the presidency, though. That would be more like "real life" unfortunately. He is republican and he is a forceful, powerful guy. May make for some interesting tv.

Soooo -- didn't you like last night's episode? Wow, Ole Jed Bartlett went the extra mile for Vinick, didn't he. I'm curious to see how they run out the spiritual disbelief of Vinick too.
Yeah! Last night was the best in a long time. = ) I really liked the spiritual ping pong between Bartlet/Vinick. Now I want Vinich to win!!! Sorry Santos...I'm flip-flop'n...

AAh HAA -- you're going to vote by emotion instead of opinion. Weigh the options and the candidate's platform, look at his voting record, be certain of his track record and whether he will represent YOU before making your decision. Until I discovered this little spiritual glitch, though, I was thinking Vinick(sp?) looked pretty good . . . except for that little abortion snafu. What did you think of that minister's entry into the show? Hate to say this, but I'm afraid he's suffering from a little teensy bit of narcissism (aka the "God Complex") wooooooo.

Hey, I didn't say I wouldn't flip *back* to Santos at some point! I wish real-life politics were this much fun. I feel like I can't pick a real candidate because I know too much dirt about them. bleh. I did enjoy the candor of Vinick as he struggled to find his place within his own party. The minister entry was weird. It let the wind out of Vinick's sails, that's for sure! But I like the way he came back at the end and expressed his true feelings on religion and politics. It looked like political suicide to me...but I like a straight shooter over a panderer any day of the week (and twice on Sunday...lol).

I think what impressed me about Vinick's moxie was that he totally stayed away from his own religious convictions and gave the best answer he could have given: if you have religious questions, then go to church. If I didn't know what a truly dedicated caring person Santos is, then I'd be voting for Vinick. However, we have seen so much of the real Santos, Vinick's got a run for his money as far the viewing public (as if we'll really get to vote). That may be a really interesting twist -- perhaps the producers will put this out for a poll and choose the new West Wing occupant based on the viewers' choice.

I'm having difficulty there as well. It is much easier to decide in real life since we only see the image projected by the candidates and not go "behind the scenes" into the real lives. Have you heard anything about what is going to happen with Martin Sheen and all the good little democrats who are presently holding White House positions? In the real world, they'd all be banished to either consultant work or graduation speakers at colleges throughout the nation. :)

No, I haven't heard anything. I was wondering that myself!
