  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We give thanks

What do you give thanks for?
here's a challange, name 5 things you are thankful for everyday. I started a S.U.R.F. Journal back in February (haven't always kept up with it, but its been a blessing.
S.U.R.F. was created by a surfer pastor named Jack Nordgren living very near me.

S = scripture.
U = understanding
R = Relevance
F = Follow up
If you'd like to know more on the study, just ask and I'll post it on your wall.
Otherwise here is your opportunity to come up with 5 things you are thankful for.

It's a good book if you can get past the ostentatious literary jumble, although I didn't finish it because I got the gist of it and didn't commit to the rest of the reading. :O It's a good premise though. Just refusing to let the bad things stack up like a list of wrongdoings that the Lord has allowed happen to us. Literally counting the good things that always outweigh the bad no matter how much bad we have.

I am thankful that I have a house that I can sell.
I am thankful that God gave me the knowledge and experiences to do the work that is needed to get this house ready to put on the market.
I am thankful for two kids who haven't complained much about being stuck at this house while I am trying to get it ready to put on the market.
I am thankful that my mom is alive to be here with me and give me someone to talk to as I go through this ordeal.
I am thankful that by having to put this much time and work into the house that God is also preparing me and the kids to be mentally ready to walk way from this house when it is time.

Window units will not work. I have a big one that sits on the ground in my backyard. It has a small freon leak, but so far I only have to fill it every couple of years. It was just SO dang hot here yesterday it took most of the night to get the temperature gage to move below 82 degrees inside! So I was worried that the gage was stuck or broke, but this morning it was at 80 so it DID move! Hallejulah! And the air coming in WAS blowing colder than outside. I have had it blow hot so I would notice that. Anyway thanks for the offer :wave:

Having ceiling fans really helps! I have ceiling fans in every room and they run 24/7 along with the central air and I've yet to have a problem keeping the house cool in the heat. We had a week+ there with temps over 106 and my neighbor was complaining his central air wasn't keeping the house cool enough and I told him to get ceiling fans. Even the a/c folks will tell you that ceiling fans really make a difference in both heating and cooling.

As for the window units? What you would pay for gas here and back you could buy a couple of new window units, lol.

Yep I got ceiling fans in every room too (well not the bathroom but :D) But here we are in triple digits for about 4-5 MONTHS so you just cannot be without A/C

But, it's a dry heat so it's not so bad right? I hate it when people say that, lol. I've spent a great deal of time in AZ and 110 is still 110, dry or not! The humidity just makes you sweat more is all? I think the highest it ever got when I was there was 115 and I couldn't imagine how folks live in that all the time??? I was a regular visitor in Tombstone for years dating back to the late 70's. Boy has that town changed over the years!
