Pastors who preach about Prosperity, would say that Jesus was a rich man.

They would use a passage in Genises, about God's promise to Abraham concerning wealth.

Some Theologins would use the passage where Jesus himself would say
" Foxes have caves, birds have nest, but the Son of man, Has no place to lay His head."

They would use that passage to say that Technically Jesus was Homeless.

The prosperity teachers would say, that he was prophesising abot His Burial.

I, would say that even if He were prophesising about His death, that doesn't prove that Negate that He was poor.

I appreciate any response.

Thank you.

Jesus had money - Judas was the one who managed the groups funds.

Also it is the hebrew tradition to tithe 1/40th of their income to their rabbi/pries/pastor, Jesus would have been collecting heaps.

Otherwise how else would Jesus have been able to keep his entourage fed - there was more than 12 of them. Sure people would have offered him food and lodgings - but seriously, does anyone reckon that would have happened everywhere he went for 3 years. Certainly didnt happen in Nazareth ! and definitely wouldnt happen in Cesaria Phillipi (sp?)

Would this be true of a rich man?
Matthew 8:20</SPAN>And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Luke 9:58And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
There is no evidence from Holy Scripture that Our Lord was a rich man, and we know that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

As someone commented once: 'You can tell what God thinks of money by the people He gives most if it to.'

peace,

Anglian

I agree with you there. Jesus in a money sense would of been poor. However in ritual and godly and many other religious words sense he was rich. After all, he is the Son of God and sits at the right hand of the Father.

Jesus had many financiers (Luke 8:3-4), hense the need for a treasurer. It says they "ministered unto him of their substance". This could be used as an argument that He was not super wealthy of His own accord, but it also doesn't mean He wasn't blessed to the point of prosperity.

No, he wasn't. The properity doctrine that spews forth from many a pulpit is a disgrace and at odds with the message and example Jesus set. Jesus lived amongst the outcasts, the poor and sick. Those who 'respectable' society had cast out.

The generosity of those who he lived among provided food and shelter and the message he shared exhorted those of substance to freely share with those who were without. People who are comfortable with their affluent lives feel no need to search for greater depth (as a general rule). Those who are without the comforts of life are those who more often than not come to realise what it is that is important and money is not it.

I don't think Jesus needed money to support his ministry, or to buy food. If he for some reason needed money he could make it appear. Like the coin in the fishes mouth, or feeding all those people with 5 loaves, and 2 fishes.

We are talking about the one who created EVERYTHING.

So I would say no Jesus was not rich with earthly things. He had no reason to be.
